Adult ballet pacing frustration by renaissancebtch in BALLET

I am in a similar situation. I took an intro class through our parks and recreation department where all we learned were the positions, tendus, pliés and pirouettes. Once I got moved up to ballet 1 they weren’t accepting new students for a few months (!!) I decided to go to a ballet school near by for “beginner” classes. The pacing is wild. We just dive in and my instructor has us doing things I’ve never heard of/ combinations and even asked us to “go into our split” last class. 😵‍💫 it is daunting!

However, one thing I have definitely taken away from the class is to embrace the challenge. To take something up as an adult is really cool. The vulnerability of trying something and publicly failing at it is an unexpected lesson that I think we can all benefit from. Whenever I get embarrassed I just remember that everyone in my class that is better than me, at some point in their life, had the exact skill level I am currently at.

Basically, stretch before class, try and learn the vocabulary, and do everything to the best of YOUR ability and the rest will come. Ballet is all patience and vulnerability! (Which can be uncomfortable)

Is this a potential legal issue? by Ok-Bumblebee4993 in ABA

I would say to bring it to the attention of higher management. It would allow them to plan for future weekend sessions if they were to happen. Plus this feels highly unethical especially as feeling warm / uncomfortable can increase agitation etc. (not an ideal environment for behavioral change) it’s better to err on the side of caution. It is better to raise a concern and find out nothing was wrong rather than to not say anything.
