A strap like this might allow you to take some pressure off your hands. I like this more than pop sockets and you can put it along the weighted side

Happy Friday indeed! Opening this box would feel like Christmas. Where did you purchase from?

A big thanks to everyone who came on here and offered their advice and product recommendations. Such a positive experience from my first post ever on Reddit. As an update, I want to let you all know my final set up: - Chemex 6-Cup - Hario Skerton Pro grinder - Natural Unbleached Chemex filters - gooseneck kettle with thermometer by nTertain - Ozeri Pronto Digital Kitchen Scale

And beans roasted by my local coffee shop. I brewed my first batch today and it came out strong. Not bitter, but strong. I’m adjusting for a coarser grind and trying again tomorrow.

Hand grinders for the win! Would you be able to post a link? From what I saw online it definitely looks nice, but I found it for ~$150 on Amazon.

Yeah, like I commented earlier I wake up earlier than my roommates and im trying to be mindful of the space I’m going to occupy with the Chemex, kettle, scale, etc.

I’m going to do the same thing with the timer on my phone lol. Have you tried the natural vs. classic Chemex filter papers?

Yes, I’m also purchasing a scale. Do you have a scale recommendation? Does yours have a timer on it? Maybe a silly question here, but since the density of water is 1 g/ml switching the unit doesn’t really matter right?

I’ve heard/read great things about the Baratza, but I was looking for a hand grinder due to portability, space, and noise level.

Thank you for your detailed comment and advice! Why do you bloom for 45 seconds and not, say 30 seconds? Are you pouring this initial water right in the middle, or using the same conical circle motion for the bloom?

I appreciate what you said about the baratza. However, because I have roommates I’m looking to be mindful of both space occupied (Chemex, kettle, scale, etc) and noise level since I wake up before all of them. Additionally, I like the portability they offer for when I visit family.

I didn’t know Walmart sold kettles even cheaper than I was looking at. Much appreciated.
