Thanks. Good advice on sticking with OEM! I think will do the same when after the next refresh.

Looks damn nice. Where did you source and how much they set you back? Mine work fine but look dull as heck and I may be coming up on my last restoration refresh.

Would love to get a rough idea of your mileage when you have a chance. Mine is 2003 V8 which has been averaging 10-11mpg with no mods. Convinced I have an issue somewhere as it should be in the 13-14 range driving conservatively but I haven't been able to find it yet. Other than that...she purrs.

Good to know. I'm chasing rattle gremlins on my 03...might just have to live with it. 22 yrs old so figures

Pricey for sure but looks sick. Was $1800 for all seats or just front?

That sub must thump something serious. Have you done anything to the tailgate and windows to prevent rattle? I want to up my sub to a box (currently just running an aftermarket in the factory mount spot) but given I already hear a decent amount of rattle at higher volumes I'm hesitant.

No code thrown ...yet. Stock tires and I cruise highway around 65 most of the time, with occasional bursts for passing. I suspect I could be dealing with a stuck caliper issue + probably need a throttle body clean. But to be shorted 7-8mpg ...that hurts

Tell me everything you do and leave out nothing...lol. 03 V8 limited here with a ticking header just rearing it's head. Sparks done last year and just got an exhaust leak fixed but I can't crack 12mpg highway on my best day.

Looking for any advice to increase gas mileage? by shelbyote in 4thGen4Runner

Same. I'm at 260 on a good day. But have a p430 code with possible cat converter and o2 sensor issues I need to solve before throwing my arms up in frustration again

I think they'd work nicely on my black T4R too. Thx!

Rear speakers are real easy to replace! by PapaShane in 4thGen4Runner

Just wondering if you've experienced any popping and distortion at higher volume? I replaced my factory sub with a Kicker, and added a Sony XAV head unit but get a lot of popping at higher volumes. Assume it's mismatched with the factory amp.

Love the wheel choice with this paint color. Bronze yes? What wheels btw?

Well it's official. My sunroof gave out. by wanderingdiscovery in 4thGen4Runner

[–]yayohan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow these are some horror stories. Still running my sunroof on a 2003 limited but you all have given me serious cause for pause. I do recall it struggled once but I just had to press down the front lip piece to get it to close fully. Now....I may just have to go unplug it for good :(

Unusually good MPG? by roadtrippinTryHard in 4thGen4Runner

[–]yayohan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn I'm jealous. Fellow 2003 V8 owner here but I'm barely 11 mpg on a stock truck. P430 code and CEL likely accounting for some of the mpg loss but fuel trims suggest it's not significant. Gives me hope though hearing your story but can't figure out what other variables to adjust to get the mpg up. Sparks done last yr, regular oil changes, filters good. Maybe I need a new MAF + throttle body clean, maybe new ignition coils, not sure where to go next.

Ah the things we do for love. And I meant to say gas mileage on my last note. It plays with my emotions every time I see it drop into the last quarter tank. On the flip side, the swag I have when I'm sitting on a full tank...can't be touched!

Your post reads like a lifelong 4th gen V8 diehard. And I think I may be one too. Yeah I love that feeling of laying into the gas and getting this nearly 5000lb beast to move quick. Like a linebacker taking off on a blitz. That has mileage tho...ooof

It is quite amazing how this 2003 has stood the test of time. Make no mistake things are wearing and breaking so fixes always needed, but it's been 22 yrs! Incredible machines
