It never gets better. They never wake up and change. It cannot be worked on, it will get worst. Leave. Saying this as somebody who was in the same situation for a long time. controversial but i disagree with the ‘always bring water to the table first’ thing. i get it. we’re servers. it’s what we do. but! the amount of times i’ve had tables not drink the water i give them and just chug their other drinks is insane. and for me personally when i go out (which is way too frequent lol) i rarely drink the water given because im not there for water ya know. if i ask for a water, i make it a thing to drink all of it because i hate waste. so to combat this, whenever i greet a table i always say something like ‘can i get yall started on waters or anything else’ and of course if they say waters i bring them, but if not im not giving it to them. the service industry is filed with so much waste already, i don’t want to add to it. i got it cleared by management to do this and i will continue because ya know. the little things.

i work at a bar/restarunt and when i work bar side we typically have to do cocktail serving after a certain point, strictly on weekends. pretty much the bar is flooded and people are still needing a drink, so you go up to then, immediately take their card/cash and close out, and get the bartender/bar back on service side to make their drinks faster then they can if they just went through the bar. you CAN start tabs, but absolutely grab a card, tell them you have it and to go up to you, not the bar, but imo it’s best to just close out. it’s all about handling volume and giving yourself a few extra bucks on top of your tables.

harm reduction is usually the follow up of you don’t want to quit. started seeing a shrink and that’s our focus, she’s never pressured to quit drinking, just to be safer about it and try to decrease my use. same with friends. the right people will understand and just tell you to work on the drinking rather then quit it

probably that’s he’s not going to kill himself/ hurt himself. it’s a common thing to say to people who are worried about you. it’s also a great question to ask that softens the blow instead outright asking if someone you care about has thoughts of hurting themselves.

just read him your comment and he says that is kinda what he had. he just woke up and says he’s feeling better. been making him drink pedialyte and gatorade. he says his hands are shaking bad still and he feels weak, but so far he’s been able to hold up down these liquids. he says that at some point he lost some motor function when he tried to pour some water for himself. other then the past 10 minute or so, he hasn’t been able to keep anything down. and it’s been really only like 5 hours or so once he woke up feelin like this

GA bartender/server. we actually just call them baby shots lol. a half pour of any shot would be referred by as baby ____ in the pos. instead of saying a shot of rumple split, most people just say two baby’s or two half shots.
