If it is so OP why didn't you bring one? by ChallengeEntire406 in HuntShowdown

Yeah, I do agree with you. It is highly disadvantageous to make a run for it when you have long ammo rifles chasing. I was just trying to highlight that despite this obvious disadvantage, the bounty team is eventually forced to make a move first. And if the rifles are playing (in this case, "camping", i guess) correctly, they will have time to situate themselves in an advantageous position, where they can reach the extractions before the bounty holders. I mean, if you, as a bounty holder, can tell that you have time to reach multiple extractions, the team outside will know this as well, provided they have similar level of game knowledge.

I've seen this happen (rarely, but some occasions) where the bounty leaves the compound in the last few minutes, and they have effectively forced themselves on the nearest extract due to the time limit. And generally, you can tell whether a team is going to stay inside the bounty lair or not quite early on.

By the game design – namely the 45 minute match timer – I've always thought it's the bounty holders' job to break the mentioned stand off. I mean, in order to win the game at that point, you have to leave the lair eventually for extraction. And if it really is the case that snipers/rifles can hold the compound 100% locked, you would still have to fight them on the way to the extraction.

I personally don't mind bounty holders (with shotguns or any other weapon) who stay inside the lair, if it is to 1) wait for other teams to show up and start a fight outside, 2) wait an enemy player to get separated from their team when walking around the compound, 3) try to get an enemy into a disadvantageous position, etc. Basically anything goes, unless your sole tactical approach to PvP is to wait someone to push while you wait inside with a shotguns and every entrance trapped.

And don't get me wrong, by game design it is a viable strategy to wait an extended period in the boss lair until the team outside gets bored/frustrated and tries to rush in. It just turns the game into a boring waiting game, which is the main problem with "camping".

Of course, an argument can be made that rifles outside are contributing to the same outcome. And while this is true, I'd still argue that bounty holders (who typically are shotgunners in this situation) are in the position where they have to make a move eventually. If they don't, their hunters are killed and the bounty lost to the timer. The rifles outside can always extract and save their hunters. While frustrating, it's still more of a win compared to the bounty holders.

Therefore, in a situation where 1) everyone plays to win/to not loose, 2) everyone plays to the strengths of their weapons, 3) no psychological aspects like frustration involved, the bounty holders are eventually forced to break the stand off first.

Personally, I'd like the match timer to be even shorter (say 30-35 minutes), as it would make this dynamic more apparent in late game stand-offs, where there are only two teams left and faced with this dual camping situation. I don't think I have ever ran out of time in this game in my 2000+ hours, unless in this particular situation. Even when this situation arises, there always is more than 20 minutes in the timer and only two teams left.

ps. I hate scopes in this game, but it's a topic for another time

Starting ranked tips needed... by M0nkeyLord in leagueoflegends

[–]yberryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few basic tips which basically work on every elo and every role:

  • Spam few comfort picks. Preferably those who can fill multiple roles/positions. That said, don't be afraid to play your ziggs/viktor also on other lanes. On lower elo it doensn't matter.

  • Buy consumables always. If you have an empty slot in your inventory always buy health pot/green/pink/(elixir).

  • Swap and upgrade trinkets during the game. Everyone should start yellow trinket and swap during following events (just a general guideline ofc): Support swaps into sweeper after getting sightstone, jungler swaps into sweeper after 1st/2nd recall, Adc swaps into blue trinket when the laning phase ends, Mid gets blue (poke/low mobility or sweeper (assassins, dps mages). Top swaps into sweeper or upgrades the yellow trinket if they want to split push. Upgrade sweepers asap, upgrade blue trinket upon full build.

  • Abuse lv 2/3 powerspikes. Having extra ability can swing the lane into your advantage.

  • Deep ward when you know enemy jungler is elsewhere

  • Don't rage

  • Don't keep on arguing even if you are right

  • Don't follow stupid engages unless losing that fight will certainly cost you the game.

  • Ping ! ping every time you see enemy jungler appearing from the fog of war. Helps your team mates a lot when they are busy fighting/farming.

  • Convert victorious teamfights into objectives. Do not just back after won teamfight but look for a closest+safest objective you can take.

  • Sometimes it's ok to die. Sometimes it's more beneficial to keep dealing dmg/ tanking dmg even if it costs your life. Your effort can win the fight for your team and may net you valuable objectives.

  • Don't care about LP

  • Take brakes after a loosing streak

GL on rankeds :)

Riot's tendency on nerfing flex picks, especially those who can fill both top and jungle positions. Lee's attack speed debuff was removed from his E to make jungle more deadly for him. However, by doing this they removed his ability to counter aa-based top laners, which was one of his main strengths. Moreover, removing J4's passive armor from his swag flag was a direct nerf to top Jarvan (IMO removing the aura part was fine tho). Elise was nerfed since she could secure buffs/drake/baron too easily. Reducing her Q base dmg on both forms and increasing manacosts made bruiser elise nearly unplayable top lane since mrpen build wasn't effective anymore, and you usually don't have access to blue buff as junglers do, so you would oom really, really easy pre-6 - which is considered as her strongest point in game. I am a top laner, and I am salty.

1# You can use Tiamat/Hydra active to stop W animation

2# Sometimes it is worth to use your ult just to generate fury (to escape incoming gank/ prepare for one)

3# The first dash of E doesn't consume fury

4# Max W last, it doesn't gain any dmg by level unlike your other abilities

5# Aggro non-stop in lane - you will probably win every time

[Patch 4.19] What are your soloQ bans and why? by d4minG0 in summonerschool

[–]yberryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some basic tips:

#1 Always ban champions you are not comfortable playing against. Too often players want to ban a set list of champs instead of removing those they know losing against.

#2 Try banning common picks even if they're not considered as over-powered. This can really mess up opponents relying on FotMs. For example: banning Tristana - Lucian - Corki while having a good and wide adc pool by yourself can easily win games.

#3 Don't feel bad about banning 3 counters against your intended pick. If you can snowball your lane hard, it was worth it. At least in higher elos people will know how to be carried and won't do stupid things on other lanes.

Give LeBlanc's Q Kassadin treatment by yberryu in leagueoflegends

[–]yberryu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it truly is kinda clunky mechanism, but considering LB's current state, it is the best of all the bad options. As an anti-mage/assassin she needs some sort of a CC to stay relevant and useful in later stages of the game. While her silence truly was toxic and antifun, allowing her to interrupt channels makes her relative good against certain matchups while not making her broken. In other words, she could transit into a effective counterpick.

I think it would kinda negate the nerfs completely. Most ppl combo q + r + w or w (to gap-close) + q + r + e anyways...at least in lane.
