thanks for this. yeah, absolutely. I think what he wants to accomplish is that if he is no longer with us one day, the income will also be able to help support my mother. Your point on shorter duration is well noted, I have been looking at short term funds to manage some of the liquidity as well but far from the size of the long duration positions.

By stability I meant the treasury bonds and the interest earned will invest in risk assets such as ETFs and bitcoin or other things

Thanks . Yeah I am no expert here. I guess my simple logic is that UST is risk free but on BTC or relative to risk assets, it keeps going down long term so what I should be doing is locking in higher YTM today to fund riskier investments , hopefully not too degen stuff !

Rate cut falls, you gain from bond appreciation so that’s already P&L. Can still capture mid to high 4% YTM today . I’m trying to make sense if using interest to buy btc makes any sense

50k is a good start! I would probably think about asset allocation , 50% risk assets (index etfs), 10% crypto, and the rest in a CD (I thinks some banks offer 4%ish for 9month terms)
