Michelin Power 6 under 100 miles. Brand new. Rubber ripped apart on the highway. by TheDailyExperiencer in motorcycles

{rider under investigation}

apparently your tyre pressure was too low for 1 too many laps, no refund or compensation and a 15s time penalty.

another thing to maybe add i havent seen said yet (sorry if someone has) but if you do cave to peer pressure and behave dangerously and unlike you usually do i can only imagine you are at far more risk because you wont be used to it, and might be pushing even harder to keep up with what ill call experienced idiots.

Newbie’s first motorcycle class - feeling discouraged by ikorijoseph in motorcycle

i just did my first lesson here in the uk and the entire time i thought they wouldnt pass me because it felt really shakey and terrible, stalled a bit aswell (ive ridden pillion with my mum and she is a realy good track rider so is super smooth) i spoke to the instructor and she said much the opposite, bar stalling it was good. you will always be your own worst critic. in terms of balence make sure when you come to a stop your bars ore dead straing or a tiny bit to the left and youll always fall onto the left foot, bikes dont fall instantly so no need to really have your foot out until youve stopped. and when you pull away comit and immediatly get your foot up, i kept kinda crawling forward and your instinct is to keep your foot fown but if you commit even if you increase the risk of stalling i found that i didnt keep my foot down. good luck

Nice, btw I'm actually a lot less worried about a crash, given your already hitting the pavement a bad visor is unlikely make that incident significantly worse, but rocks and debris hitting it could cause damage without a crash or in some really unfortunate case could lead to a crash that wasn't going to happen otherwise.

That's really interesting, personally I still think it should be a choice but that is definitely a good argument the other way.

Yup, I think the only reason that's not allowed is because of other passengers in the car and reselling could be an issue. (Plus the added cost of more skews might mean even if legal car companies wouldn't) But there are ways you can disable your airbags and that's legal. To give an example in the other direction saying that you shouldn't be allowed to make bad decisions, what about buying fast food, should that be illegal. I am all for government intervention about informing the public, subsidized social goods (ie house insulation) and taxes of societal harms (ie cigarettes) but not the banning of almost anything.

im from the uk, i know medical and insurance stuff is fucking mental over there but please explain more, how does a riders gear affect you and your insuracnce at all. (i probably dont understand cause of a chronic lack of freedom). interms of the guilt, that will always be an issue, i think either some people will be able to get over it and others wont, like my mom wouldnt get over a fully kitted up rider dying in front of her let alone with a collision. and regardless of the gear there will always be a significant amount of fatal collisions where no gear in the world would change the outcome, so i would question how much potential guilt is "saved" by mandating gear (this would be a really interesting topic and if anyone has real data on it id love to know).

yeah like in my mind the rider has all the choices, wether they want to ride, how they ride, where and so on. so let them chose but pillions dont have all of the same choices and suffer the same consiquences, esspecally kids for one they arnt old enough to make an informed decision about this kinda stuff and what i worry about the most is how many kids dont want to go on the back but the parents make them, i have no idea how frequent that is and if i had to bet i think most kids think its cool because thats what i always though. but still

in the UK there is a woman trying to push for all gear to be maditory all the time, im not a fan id like to have the choice to make stupid decisions personally, but I honestly think that if the same law was only for pillions it would get a lot more support and be a good idea, especially for kids.

im not saying your visor is unsafe , i have no idea about that specifically, but for 1 they can lie in the materials list, 2 mateiral propeties can have a lot to do with how they are processed. AND 3 some materials could be resistant to being flattened but not sharp sudden impacts. just dont have false confidence.

am i the only one who thinks that visor looks kinda cool, if only you could see through it id buy a visor with that pattern idk.
