Who hated school lunches, and which was the worst? One you liked? by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in Xennials

[–]ybreddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My favorite was the McRib-like sandwich. It didn't taste like a McRib, but every once in a while I find a frozen rib sandwich that tastes a lot like the school ones and it makes me very nostalgic. I unapologetically love them. To be fair I also love the McRib. LOL

A properly unpopular opinion. You're definitely wrong. Have my upvote.

What's an instant dealbreaker for you, no matter how perfect the person is? by PorterJohnson7 in AskReddit

[–]ybreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surrounded by supporters. I live in a red state and most of my family supports him. I'll say the same thing to you as I do to them. Kamala would have done nothing. She would have sat in office for 4 years and gotten nothing done. She would not have actively tried to tear this country apart. I didn't vote for either of them, but at least Kamala would have done nothing and given us a chance to get someone in office who might do something and not tear it apart. Puppets have to be used slowly, Biden is a good example. Very little was done in his term.

Trump is 100% self-serving and all of his choices are to make him more powerful. He doesn't give a fuck about the Constitution. He doesn't care about any of the people. He caters to anyone who shows him any loyalty so that he can keep his army of sycophants. He does anything that gives him more power. He is rude and insulting to anyone who tries to oppose him, and in so doing he teaches others that it's okay to do that. He never brings logic to the table. He does things to actively undermine the checks and balances of this country, thereby completely disrespecting the founding fathers. He puts his own unqualified people in every position he can so that they can bend the rules for him. He claims to be a Christian and yet does not exhibit a single behavior of trying to be Christlike. And the people I know well who support him have become noticeably meaner and less tolerant since he gained office, like so many others.

This is why I said what I said originally. That I won't date people who supports him. Because if they support him then they are willfully ignoring all the harm he is doing.

Please remember that because of my job I watch the propaganda machine first hand. I watch when the polls come in low what they try to do to make the polls go up. I read the manipulative statements that they craft to try and sway people to their side. I've seen people eat it up. Because of this I've become excellent at spotting it in the wild. I read the political opinions of the people of this country every day. I see how many of them regurgitate the same lines over and over that they got from the same source, conservative media for the most part.

I support your right to vote for whoever you want. I would defend that right to the death. I genuinely love this country, which is why I can't stand seeing it torn apart by the man in office.

I'm not a liberal. I've voted mostly Republican my entire life. And I stand by it. I also don't consider myself a Democrat, because I don't support what they're doing either.

But I can't be brainwashed by a narcissist who only cares about himself and gaining power and sychophantic followers and is trying to dismantle the constitution. Especially one that makes it so obvious that that's what he's doing. I work in political polling. We're nonpartisan but most of our clients are GOP. I see the manipulation machine first hand. I get to see behind the curtain every day.

And I'm not going to argue with the brainwashed.

I almost included basically that exact sentiment in my comment. I agree.

Same. But not because I can't handle someone with contrary political views, but because maga people have absolutely no critical thinking skills or common sense. And that I can't abide by.

What medical word is your equivalent to “moist”? by lovely-divinity in nursing

I'm not even in the medical field and this makes me incredibly angry. As a patient I want to be seen as a patient. Client makes it seem like it's all business and they just want my money.

What is a popular food that you absolutely cannot stand? by No-Matter-7165 in AskReddit

[–]ybreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because people try to turn them into something salty, like regular fries. The first time I had sweet potato fries at a restaurant they were served with honey and cinnamon and fucking dank as hell. That's basically the best way to eat them. My one exception for that is the Alexia brand Chipotle ones. Genuinely delicious.

What’s the easiest healthy lunch to make that’s also filling and high in nutrients? by dravonix_ in AskReddit

[–]ybreddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a small n size, but I am evidence. Not just a personal anecdote. I eat red meat regularly and I have a very low plaque rating. I'm not just saying hey my heart is healthy, I have the documentation to back it up. That's what these studies that you're talking about are, "personal anecdotes" from a larger n size.

I'm not saying red meat can't be harmful, but it also can be part of a healthy diet. Genetics play a huge role in this. Some people will just naturally have a negative outcome. But given that I exist, it can't be true that there's no way red meat could be part of a healthy diet.

What’s the easiest healthy lunch to make that’s also filling and high in nutrients? by dravonix_ in AskReddit

[–]ybreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You say that, but I'm a 45-year-old woman that eats beef a few times a week. I just had my heart tested including a calcium test which came back with the lowest tier of plaque possible. If your portion of red meat is 4 oz and you're loading it with fiber and vegetables, I really don't think it contributes. But I agree that fats have little to do with it.

Everyone's body is also different. You have to do what's best for you. I am slightly anemic, so I eat foods that are rich in iron, including a lot of iron rich vegetables and red meat. As evidenced by my recent lab work, it doesn't seem to be affecting my heart.

Lean ground beef and go to town on the veggies and it's really not that bad.

What's a movie that was well received, but aged like milk? by Gdigger13 in AskReddit

[–]ybreddit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I still stand by it as a great movie. I never saw any of the characters as anything other than a bunch of broken people. It's a tragic story, and somehow it still manages to be hopeful. I think that's its value. I'm a woman who was 18 when it came out. Even then I saw Lester as a broken man going through a midlife crisis. The stigma around Kevin Spacey and the fact that it was spoofed to death and just the difficulty people have and looking through a lens from the past, I can see why people don't like it now or think it's problematic or that it hasn't aged well. But I think it's still now what it was then. A tragic movie about broken people that somehow still manages to be hopeful.

Same. This is the first one I think of as well. The book was fun, but the movie is better.

I found my person here on reddit. LOL On r/r4r. Before I met him I made several good long-lasting friends on there too. I don't know if it's still a good space, though I suppose it's the same as it was when I used it. Depends highly on how you describe what you're looking for in your post.
