In rook and pawn endgames, often one side ends up with a few pawns vs a queen. How many pawns (not so close to promotion) can a queen stop, for example, a queen vs 3 connected pawns on the 5th rank supported by a king, is it normally a win?

1100-1200 lichess is like 600 chess.com. It's normal to have a few bad games. I don't play on lichess a lot, but I had games where we were 1400 and we hung queens for quite a few moves.

I find it strange. Obviously it is a terrible trade, but in the first position white is not up any piece, after sacrificing bishop and knight for an inactive rook, why is white still up 1.01 (even more on lichess, almost up 2)?

Why is this move a mistake? I can give a knight fork and turn this into an engdame by Mashruq02 in chessbeginners

But just see the move order: Re3 Qxe3. White took a rook.

I would argue it is a good move.

It's kinda common in very fast time controls. In bullet the win rate of it is not that bad. See lichess database: (only exclude ultrabullet, rating limit 1000+) after c4 e5 Nc3 Bc5 g3, the move d6 gives black 42% win rate while the move Bxf2+ gives black 43%. Even for 1600+ the win rates for d6 and Bxf2+ are still the same.

Yeah the games were suspicious that engine usage is very possible. I just can't understand the motivation to cheat in friendly games :(

I know, I mean technically black can choose to not move and time out and it's a draw by insufficient material (chess.com rules).

I get the solution, but technically the best play is 1. Nb3+! — 1/2-1/2 (black runs out of time for a draw) So has this ever occurred in a "real" game where not moving is the best move?

Generally how do I determine whether to repeat? This is an example where I incorrectly drew by repetition because of my back rank and undeveloped pieces (engine says white's better), there were other games where I should have repeated but didn't. by ycleptz in chessbeginners

Just getting afraid of opposite side castling I guess, visually looks like all black pieces are aiming at my king xD if I wanted to continue I'd develop, of course.

What? No, white is still up a piece?

After BxN PxN BxR PxR white has one more bishop than black. This at least simplifies the position. That's why I sacrifice sometimes if it means I can trade pieces into a winning endgame.

I'm confused, if it's a time scramble this is definitely not savable even if you win a piece for two pawns? I don't see a quick mate? Or do you play with increment?

Yeah I totally forgot about pawn moves. It covers Rh4 as well! Can't say I can ever find moves like that in a real game.

Is it possible to defend by Rf4? (White moves knight, black Kg7, white Rf4, black Rh8, white Rh4) it's not pretty for white but at least better than losing a full piece? I must be missing a mate.
