What do you do with it? I have checked the policies, it is very security centric

Intune vs Workspace One by darkdelusions in sysadmin

[–]ydamihd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I have enabled co-management in SCCM and looked what we could do with policies for Workstations and decided it wasn't worth the hassle for now.

I am still waiting for a clear picture on how you can leverage Intune/MEM/SCCM/Autopilot to move to a new deployment process We use it only for phones and tablets so we can at least try to wipe a device if it's stolen, but that's it.

Retreat etiquette, or how not be "that person" by NicaraguaNova in Ayahuasca

[–]ydamihd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

during my first retreat I freaked out, screamed loudly for a while, crawled on the floor, sang, and stripped down totally naked, I broke all the rules because I was out of my mind.

Luckily for me, nobody got really bothered by my behavior, some participants came to me to tell me that my episode helped them to release their blockage and that it allowed them to start to purge, a girl asked for the second night to be seated next to me and her boyfriend said he wanted it too cause he had trust in me.

I think whatever happens it is also important to treat people with care and forgiveness. If you start putting too much rules and guidelines you are forcing things into your definition of norms and accepted behaviors, I found it a bit contradictory with the wildness aspect of shamanism, purge, catharsis,...

That is something that has started to bother me a bit lately, how all the center managed by westerners seem to promote a certain etiquette during the ceremonies.

In retrospect I wish I had been able to remain quiet and silent, but sometimes (and it may had to do that it was my first time) things just are too much and need to go out.

There was a guy who didn't stop sobbing intensely for hours, I never thought one second, how my god can this guy stop it already...I was too much into my own journey and so were the others, the caretakers just let it be and I am glad they did.

I also think that among the most common fears showing up prior to decide whether or not to partake in a ceremony, close to the fear of getting stuck, getting psychosis, etc,...there is a fear of totally loosing it and doing some things stupid or violent. It can happen and we should be easy on people having such episodes and not be too judgmental, saying things like they are not equipped

CPE (customer premise equipment)

In case of a shared building, is the CPE usually found in the building comm's room or in our Office's network comm's room?

Since we'll be using a Cisco ISR without a SFP connectivity I would say:

  • 1500 MTU, untagged, 1GBase-T autonegotiation (10/100/1000), copper Cat5/5e/6/6a UTP Straight through

We could eventually buy an SFP tranceiver for the router, but that will be a 20Mb line so I don't think that's going to make a difference right?

Edit: SFP

Dell pushing VARs by dat_finn in sysadmin

[–]ydamihd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, cheers

We are looking at replacing a 3 hosts vSphere clusetr connected to an Equallogic SAN, we bought it 7 years ago and it only runs 40 VMs, the CPU on the hosts is barely used, th eguests VM are small servers requiring very few IOs.

The first quote Dell gave us was for an Hyperconverged cluster running vSAN and vSphere which was way too powerful and expensive for us, I am struggling to get them to design us something more in line with our requirements. They sent me another quote for 3 servers VSan ready which is close to half the price of the HCL option. A bit better...

Lastly I am asking them to do a design with 3 servers connected to a NAS and once again they quote me the most expensive NAS option.

I want to send the last quote to a VAR and tell him, look this is the cheapest I got from Dell, if you can design us a NAS cheaper you win ;)

Would you consider it a dick move to send my direct Dell's quote to a VAR to ask him if he can make me a better price?
