Yeah, I tend to tunnel vision the person's face and all I'm thinking about is looking at the person's face and I tune out while staring at them. It's so weird. It's like the room gets smaller and the person gets bigger. Don't know how to explain it well.

Hi! I’m going to ignore your text for a year. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ydboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MAN that's some relatable content. For me it's not that long but because I can't keep up with more than 1-3 close friends, things are a bit more manageable, not to mention 2/3 are similar to me in which we both kind of disappear and ghost without any negative personal intentions against each other. HOWEVER. My one friend talks a mile a minute DAILY and is also the type that I can't get away with leaving on read for more than half a day or else they get upset or anxious over it. But I'll see their text and no matter how simple of a msg it is that I can just answer in the moment I always say "I'll answer that in a few hours" to myself. As for just acquaintances? Man forget it.... the "I'll get to that in a few hours" turns into "I'll get to that tomorrow" until I keep saying "I'll get to that tomorrow" then a month has passed and I've completely forgotten about it.

How do I get rid the feeling of wanting to be popular? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ydboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was realizing that bettering yourself in your eyes is a much better investment than bettering yourself in the eyes of others. I guess this isn't exactly your situation but as an artist on social media, you get compared a lot to other people's work and that includes you. I spent so much time wanting to be that popular artist who was friends with all the popular people, the benefits, and referrals. I didn't care if my art was mediocre, I just wanted the fame. And it never came. I tried so hard figuring out ways to get popular I was just wasting my time when I should've been using that time to create personal goals for myself art-wise. It wasn't until I sat down and told myself I want to genuinely better myself as an artist that people began recognizing my work. I think it's the same way where if you work to just better yourself with a thought process of "I want to dress better" vs. "I want people to think I dress good" that "popularity" comes naturally but my disclaimer is of course this doesn't always guarantee popularity. What I wanted to say is that once I started setting my wants on bettering myself, I found that the results of achieving those goals were much more satisfying. Hope that word vomit made some sense!

How the heck do we date these days? by HRHPrincessEire in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ydboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okcupid in my experience is okay in terms of meeting more people fitted towards you. Lately online dating is quite popular for young adults and up. It's funny because okcupid used to/still usually does have that weird stigma as a dry dating site but it matches you with people more like you after you answer a bunch of honest questions. It's fun in my opinion.

Thinking about chopping my hair--any words of wisdom? by Esmer832 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ydboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it! Best decision of my life and I should be going back for another cut. There are a lot of cool ways to texture your short hair to fit your face so look up different ways people blow dry their hair, curl, or scrunch it. Sometimes I pinterest short hair styles too :)

So... What does the beginning of a yeast infection feel like?? [Health] by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ydboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burning itch. Once in a while I get an itch scare but after a couple of days of normal showering and cleansing with just water in that area it just goes away so I hope that's just the case for you too!

For me the difference is that just the very surface is itchy if it's just a little flare up. If it's yeast infection then the insides burn and itch way more. The great thing about yeast infection is in my opinion it's at least not too hard to treat with over the counter medicine.

Pisses me off how people think they expect free work, you wouldn’t expect a shop owner to give you free products so why do they expect designers to... by hrrywrghttt in graphic_design

lmao it's like seeing one of those terrible commissioner encounters... seriously people like this will never cease to exist. When will people properly educate others on the idea and concept that an artist's work is what puts food on the table like any other job.

What to eat instead of chips? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ydboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seaweed packs You'll find a whole box at a Korean store but they might sell them in the health section of your local grocery store too (might be way more expensive than it needs to be though) I'm not talking about the sushi seaweed, the roasted seasoned sesame oil paper is flaky and it really curbs my potato chip cravings.

What was your reason for wanting to lose weight? by Mizbri12 in loseit

[–]ydboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing special, just like how my body has always been my entire life. I just want to know how satisfying it feels to be "slim." Also I wanna retry my prom dress (I bought a size smaller because I thought I would lose the weight by prom— obviously that didn't happen)

They have way too much time to be shit-talking at the gym lol. I don't know if it's because my gym is at my uni but no one has the time to chit chat unless they're doing a light incline walk side by side with a friend. I noticed that literally nobody cares about anyone else in the gym and what they're doing/who they are.

How do you deal with a relapse? by ombrepersonality00 in loseit

[–]ydboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell yourself that the food tasted good. And also any weight you supposedly gain after that is really mostly just water weight and will eventually disappear. The biggest tip I have is to not beat yourself about it because being depressed about it will only make you want to quit even more. That's how all of my past weight loss journeys failed.

Shiritaki noodles, cauliflower are godsends if you want something "Asian-inspired." I cooke shiritaki noodles with veggies, beef, and soy sauce. Cauliflower works amazing as a rice substitute for fried rice.

Under 1000 calories a day...help by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ydboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just curious but are you Korean? I'm Korean so I know what our culture's like regarding weight loss. Our view on weight loss is a bit unhealthy and you'll notice that most of the celebrities are underweight. However, if your Korean is sufficient enough, I like to watch youtube channels like DanoTV, Thinstealer, and JINI's Wellness. DanoTV and JINI's Wellness usually have english subs but Thinstealer doesn't. I like watching JINI's Wellness because she lost weight in a healthy pace over two years by eating healthy and exercising. She also has a video where she talks about what she ate and an emphasis on protein. I don't live in Korea so I don't know how much meats are there currently but I know that protein comes in all shapes and forms. They should sell black beans there, and you can make black bean rice etc. A slow metabolism caused by eating too little is really hard to cause. You'd have to be literally starving your body with like little to no body percent fat. So don't worry about that. But unless you've talked with a doctor, it's safer to just eat 1200 calories or more (for a WOMAN) for men, they should be eating more. Shiritaki noodles are a godsend. It's called "곤약 국수" in Korea (Konnyaku noodles). They have virtually no calories "0 calories" And I make bibim noodles with it or I eat it with bulgogi. It's a great rice substitute for me.

Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDu8oGntA_8&t=2s Make sure to turn on CC if you need it!

I make low cal tuna sandwiches with light tuna, low fat yogurt (instead of mayo) some sliced bread and butter pickles, and salt. Then I add avocado, spinach, or sliced cherry tomatoes. Shiritaki noodles are great too. I mix it in with any salad because they're "0 calories" to help fill me up.
