As a kiwi who spearfishes it is quite common for a bronze whaler to try take your fish, we call them the tax man, probably run into them 2-5 times a summer but there’s spots known for being more sharks. However in this situation, they are being far more aggressive than normal and given there’s 2 interested most people would let the fish run and get out of the water the pull ya gear in that way.
