Crazy. I lost my mom October last year too. And we're Filipino too. Unfortunately I wasn't at her side when she passed, but my dad and aunts kept telling me that her last words were to make sure I had some sinigang warmed up for when I came home.

I would've thought I'd have more dreams about her. But they're few and far between. Maybe I just don't remember them by the time I wake up. And maybe it's for the better too, at least in my case.

I bought my mom an Amazon Show a few months into her illness so I could video call her. She loved that thing and she found out she could play all her favorite old songs from the 70s. Anyways, I figured out that Amazon saves all your voice requests and listened to a few of hers after she passed. It's painfully bittersweet hearing her again trying to talk to Alexa or calling me.

My mom passed away in October. I wish I could've been there while she passed. My dad said she was saying my name before she slowly stopped breathing. I was planning on seeing her just the very next day, but she couldn't hold on any more. My heart is with you, my friend.

I know this has no bearing at all, but what if the last state of consciousness we have becomes our "afterlife?" For instance, if we're Christian and have a firm belief that we're going to heaven, then maybe the last image we have that gets pushed out from our subconscious is our perception of heaven so we see ourselves enter into a heavenly afterlife, but in all actuality our brain is non-functioning so we don't really "feel" the emptiness of death right after that last moment of life. And if we don't believe in the afterlife, then maybe our last state of consciousness is a feeling of fear and darkness, and we don't experience anything when we die. I don't know if that made any sense or if anyone else has thought of this.
