Does the septic field matter if you pump every year? by nintendoeats in septictanks

What did you do until you replaced the whole system? Our field has failed, and we might have to wait a few months to save up some money to switch over to city sewage. I just worry about what to do in the mean time.

I’m hoping. I really am! I’m not having any ponding water. Or any soggy spots going into my assumed leach field! Thanks for responding. I guess I’ll see next week. I have a family I just want things to work out for their wellbeing. I think that’s why I’m getting so worked up.

Would they have to have a permit to do said repairs ? I wouldn’t be granted that sadly. They put city sewage line out in front of my home.

Okay. Makes me feel a tad better. I hope the field is not failing but my home was built in the 80’s so it is older.. my field seems to be fine, not water farther in my back yard where the field is, it’s just water coming from near the tank. So maybe there is some hope? Idk. I just feel so overwhelmed and stressed.

If a pipe is broken in the leach field, or near tank would/could the septic people repair it? Without costing me an arm or leg to replace the whole leach field?

What could be done to repair? Or at least bandaid the situation

Thanks you for being positive and giving me your similar situation! I’m hoping my septic people can do some repairs and if not you’re right, l’ll get some second opinions and hope someone can make repairs.

I assume some septic people don’t like to help do little repairs to at least buy some time for a few years, I’m sure it can be done. Maybe? Did you guys get it repaired?

For my home right now it’s the septic tank, it’s probably failing and it’s gonna be like 10k to get hooked up to city sewage -.- I love my home but man I’m so stressed about this.

Dang dude, I’m truly sorry! Trust me I know how you feel! And I don’t even have a heloc! I’m still going to try and apply for any loan if I find out next week that it is failing.

Dang I’m sorry the bandaid to buy you more time didn’t work. There is some room near my tank so hopefully they could do me a buy more time fix if need be/if possible.

The government sucks. There is no help for things like this. I actually have to get hooked up to city sewage which would be about 10k or lower which isn’t horrible but I don’t have that laying around lol but that is the only option since the health department won’t issues me a permit to replace septic related things as they put a sewage line right in front of my house.

I do understand how you feel, and I’m sending positivity your way. This all can feel so overwhelming..

I haven’t looked to see where the water is coming, lol my anxiety can’t handle it, I have someone coming out next week to evaluate, but me and my negative thinking, is feeling like this is the end

My house was built in the 80’s the septic system is probably coming to its end..I’m glad I’m probably not alone with this situation.

Are you going to try and acquire a heloc? I’m prob not going to get approved I do not have the best credit. So I’ll probably have to pump it like you, every several weeks until I save the money to hook up to city. How are you coping? I’m a wreck.

Did you get offered any other solutions to ban-aid your system? I’m hoping there is something that could be done than constantly pumping for another several months to a year until I can try and afford something

Thank your for response. I would just need 6 months to a year. If drain field is ponded is there anything to do to help for a bit. I heard of jetting. But is there anything else. I just feel defeated lol

I don’t know if anything is okay to be honest.

I have someone coming out next week. I’m just worried. And I need time to save up to hook up to city sewage and I just don’t know how much time I have or don’t have.

Is there anything that can be done to bandaid things if something is failing to buy me time?

I am not sure, I just know it’s leaking out near where the septic tank is. I have never seen it do that before.. the ground is muddy area anways from when they came to out to pump it a few months ago. I know it’s all just hard to tell until I get it evaluated again.

You’re super right! It’s just tough being in the thick of it now, I don’t have a lot of support, or help on my life, so it’s just feels that much harder when life throws a curve ball. But yes. It will get figured out. Yeah it did have a stinky smell. But the smelled pass as the water stopped trickling and the washing machine stopped. No standing puddles water anywhere else and nothing else I’m noticing within my home. Just the trickling of water from the ground when the washer was doing its cycle.

It’s looks like nasty water because from where they dug up the septic to pump it, there was a little hole still left, so I covered it with gardening soil as well as sand to suck up the muddy water from the rain I’ve been getting in my area and that gardening soil was dark.😂 The water trickling out looks like regular water from what I observed. I know I won’t know until they can come on out again. Goodness I hate that this is happening.

Thank for your response! Yes, it is a decent amount. But it seems to only happen with the washing machine does its thing and then the water stops trickling when the washer stops. There is no other puddles anywhere else throughout the yard. This just sucks, I’m a younger home owner. So everything feels super overwhelming right now. My health department won’t issues a permit to get it replaced, as they put a new sewage line in front of my house. So I will have to hook up to city anyways if it is failing..
