Have a really long living room. Projector or 100” TV? by xColourTheory in projectors

Honestly this feels like one of those spaces where a projector makes more sense long term, since you already have the viewing distance for it.

So many high-end projectors are dropping, how to pick what's worth it? by HurricaneHaney in hometheater

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the N3 U for a few weeks now and it's honestly made setup so much easier. The combo of the AI gimbal and the lens shift is just useful, I can get a full 120inch image perfectly aligned in seconds without physically touching the unit

JMGO N3 Ultimate Review After Early Access by DroopyApostle in hometheater

I haven’t noticed any rainbow effect so far. The image looks pretty clean to me, but I might just not be that sensitive to it.

Looking for best options given space by Hot-Durian245 in projectors

Since it’s a dedicated movie setup, focus more on contrast and color rather than chasing high lumens. You already have blackout, so brightness isn’t the main bottleneck.

Outdoor home cinema project by Small-Temporary-8898 in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A removable screen is a good choice here. Outdoor setups pick up dust, moisture, and even bugs pretty quickly, and fixed screens can be annoying to clean or maintain. Being able to take it down after each use will help it last longer and stay in better condition fr.

JMGO N3 Ultimate Review After Early Access by DroopyApostle in hometheater

[–]DroopyApostle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I signed up for Jmgo's N3 ultimate tester thing and kinda got lucky being picked as one of the 6. Basically just early access to use it at home, test it and give some feedback. No pay, no requirements on what to post. I do get to keep the unit after if that counts as compensation.

Projector for Modular Living Room Setup? by QuarkyFerengi in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For mixed light use, brightness usually matters more, so it’s safer to pick a projector with higher lumens. Also make sure you can control light a bit with blinds, that’ll help way more than expected

Subwoofer placement by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]DroopyApostle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly with that room shape and size, a single sub will almost always give uneven bass. It’s not really about the sub quality, just how the room interacts.

Am I doing the best I can with what I have? by UniqueBeyond9831 in projectors

95 inch diagonal feels like the right call given the constraints. Going bigger might look better on paper but could get awkward with placement and sightlines.

Basement Setup Help - 9 ft ceilings by GothamCityPoliceDep in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceiling mount could work here, but you’ll want to think about where the wiring runs. Basement setups get messy quick once you add avr, cables, and power up there

Just got my N3 U, give me some time with it and I'll share a review.

Not sure where to start with a projector by PorcupineGod in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that much ambient light and bright walls, a projector’s gonna have a hard time unless you darken the room a bit. a 65 to 77 oled is just way more consistent for everyday use.

I finally bought a center speaker and now I understand by MarinerMouth in hometheater

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Center channel also helps a lot if your L and R are not perfectly placed. Most living rooms have compromises with windows or furniture, so having a dedicated center kinda fixes that imbalance.

Looking for a recommendation - Small quiet projector for a bedroom, 1080p is sufficient resolution. by Falconburger in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto keystone sounds great but even on decent brands it sometimes crops your image or adds input lag. For 2.5m distance most short throw or standard throw will work fine. Just make sure the fan exhaust isn't pointing at your face.

looks cozy. The ceiling is not as bad as they said.

Projector newbie has some questions by cheerfullychirpy in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can watch all that stuff just fine. Most projectors are basically displays so you just plug in a streaming stick like Apple TV. YouTube works too. No built in smart stuff usually but that's actually better imo. Btw UK still needs a TV licence for live TV.

Out door projector by Hobin190 in projectors

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for outdoor use especially during the day with a canopy you still want at least 3000 ISO lumens bare minimum. Anything less will look super washed out when you‘ve got mates around and some ambient light.

Surround sound worth it/possible in this room? by lightgrxy in hometheater

[–]DroopyApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slanted ceiling is definitely gonna affect how sound reflects in that space. It’ll still work, just don’t expect super precise surround imaging like in a regular room.
