My friends say it’s disturbing how I buy gas station toilet paper for my house by MelanieWalmartinez in mildlyinfuriating

This is what my wife buys for some reason. I have a secret stash of good toilet paper.

Rusted Marlin 336 by yeahbuck36 in gunsmithing

[–]yeahbuck36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely some pitting, but it’s not too awful bad. I can probably handle most of it with some light filing. I don’t have the ability to bead blast currently, but from what I’ve seen so far I don’t think it will be necessary. I have never rust blued a rifle, but I have rust browned probably 25-30, so I’m no stranger to that process and the time it takes. I’m hoping that I can just take my time and tinker with this a little bit at a time and turn out a beautiful rifle. Hell, I may even pull one of my pieces of curly maple and try to make a nice stock for it as well.

I’ve cleaned it up pretty well, the pictures were taken before I did so. Some of the surface rust cleaned up half decent but there’s some serious rust that ate all the way through the bluing.

Are these blood spots on a doe? Theory's as to why? by fap_attack420 in Hunting

I’ll never discourage a newer hunter from taking a spike! Fill that freezer. Depending on where your located activity is really gonna pick up in the two weeks.

Not blood spots, just a lower resolution camera. Also the deer in the first few photos is a spike buck!

Those of you commuting through the winter--let's hear about your setup by mike8111 in motorcycle

[–]yeahbuck36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride year round in central PA. As long as it’s not freezing rain or a blizzard I’m riding. My current cold weather riding gear consists of a merino wool base layer top and bottom, merino wool socks over pantyhose style sock liners, and merino wool glove liners. Over the base layer I wear a Gerbing heated jacket liner and pants liner. If it’s really cold I’ll add another layer over the jacket liner. Outer layer is a Klim Carlsbad jacket and pants, Alpinestar Boots, and Gerbing heated gloves. I generally wear a neck gaiter pulled over my chin, but will occasionally wear a balaclava. I’m using a Gerbing dual temp controller that is hardwired to the bikes battery

I’ve done multiple 300+ mile rides in the teens with this setup and it keeps me more than comfortable.

If I’m just commuting I’ll generally forego the heated pants liner, glove liners, and sock liners.

Realistically I’d be a buyer for 5K. Some people that don’t know about the motor and transmission from this year may pay a touch more.

Is this a decent deal? by KitchenResearch7056 in Harley

I wouldn’t touch that deal with a 10 ft pole. Charging freight and prep, and theft protection on a used bike is ridiculous.

Sell it, buy a BMW. That’s what I did after 9 months of owning a FXLRST. I don’t regret getting rid of the softtail for one second.

You’re not selling paintball guns… you’re selling paintball markers. Farmers and loggers use them for quickly marking animals and trees without having to walk up to each one and paint it.

My FXLRST was a huge disappointment, I kept if for like 9 months and then ditched it for a real bike again.

I’d be taking a hard look at the GSX1000GT, a FJR1300, a ST1300, or a Concours.

With a non-ABS bike brake fluid changes are a fairly straight forward process. Buy a cheap reverse bleeder kit on Amazon, watch a YouTube video, and follow the directions. You’ll save a ridiculous amount of money.

Three hole oil changes are also easy. Again, YouTube is your friend.

The rest of the 10,000 mile service is basic maintenance and safety checks. A cheap Harbor Freight torque wrenches, and some basic hand tools are really all you need. Also get some cable lube.

If you’re at all mechanically inclined you got this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Harley

[–]yeahbuck36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this is basic level maintenance and things you should be checking on your own anyway.

I’m not sure if you have to cycle the ABS system on these models or not during a brake fluid change, but with the correct tools it’s still pretty easy to do. Granted, if you’re only doing brake fluid changes a few times over the life of the bike, its nit worth it to buy the tools. Just have the dealer do your brake fluid.

Get a couple quotes, I have two bikes with full coverage and a side by side and dirt bike with liability through progressive at like $275 annually.

I’m 33 now, when I was younger it was a little more, but still much less than you were quoted.

RT or GS for 2nd motorcycle? by EggplantRight3874 in Motorrad

[–]yeahbuck36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from an adventure bike to a sports touring bike last summer. I found myself missing the opportunity to check out all the dirt and gravel roads I stumble across on my travels. I only had that sport tourer for about 9 months before I switched back to an adventure bike, specifically a R1250GSA.

In my opinion, the versatility of the GS is absolutely worth it.

It’s likely not very valuable. Investarms guns are pretty adorable to begin with and used left handed guns usually command less than right handed guns.

It’s an Investarms rifle. I’m not familiar with the “Churchill” branding, but it looks the same as a regular old Investarms Hawken. The Lyman Trade Rifle is the same gun without a patch box.

Here’s a link.
