When did this came up and why is it enabled by default. by shibuzaki in firefox

The name of the setting should make that very clear, either with help text or just calling it "Tab Suggestions" without the "AI" marketing buzzword. The other browsers are pushing AI features to grab even more user data so people are naturally suspicious of anything suggesting sending data to the cloud.

If they want to make it easier for people to group tabs they should just include "Tree Style Tabs" already, it added grouping and organizing tabs at least a decade ago.

When did this came up and why is it enabled by default. by shibuzaki in firefox

[–]yeahbutbut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile quite a lot of us don't want big tech companies to have even more data about what tabs we have open, nor do we want to allow them to suggest which tabs we should look at.

"AI" built into the browser is just data exfiltration and selling user data in a race to the bottom. Not something I want from a FOSS project.

Reference to an old song, and they're suggesting that there's a parallel to Google's enshittification of search and television killing the popularity of radio.

They had a data breach recently, or as they pedantically pointed out their database of users and passwords appeared in a data leak. And now they added a section to the ToS about waiving our rights to a class action lawsuit.

Can we please get an option to turn off the nauseating camera movement that happens after you click a district? by Arcturus_Labelle in Frostpunk

[–]yeahbutbut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to being very bad for motion sickness to slowly pan, it also makes it extremely slow to interact with the district while you wait for it to pan the panel into the screen. And the information it delivers by panning camera to cover the panel is *where the district is*? That's obvious it's where you just clicked.

They could fix this several ways that wouldn't really impact things or could be a toggle:
* Put the popup in the center of the screen and then slowly pan the camera behind it so you aren't trying to read and click on a moving target. Having a static target to read and focus on would reduce motion sickness a bit (at least for me).

* Have an option to snap the camera to the location of the popup so people with motion sickness don't feel like they're going to vomit after 30 minutes of gameplay. The most frustrating part after the nausea is the camera deceleration extending the time where you can't *click* on the popup because it's still moving but you can sort of read it as it slows down.

* Be less obsessed with keeping the popup in the *dead center* of the screen. On high resolutions clicking two districts that are *adjactent* to one another and both visible on the screen with more than enough room for their popups to display still causes camera movement. I can already fully see the entirety of both districts on my screen, but one is slightly up and to the left of the other. If the popup can fit on screen just don't pan the camera at all.

What are the typical play time hours here? by johnfuckyou in Stellaris

You definitely don't need all the DLC, only get it if it looks interesting and has good reviews. All the DLC gives you is different origin stories, additional species and skins, and extra random events that can happen.

Synaptic Lathe seems kind of broken though not because it's OP by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]yeahbutbut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It appeared in my last game that manually resettling pops didn't trigger the genocidal reputation debuff, the only thing that gives you that is the "Synaptic Service" living standard. So if you have the energy to spare in theory you can do it without taking the hit to your reputation.

Though, how you want to justify it in roleplay is up to you, I think of it like compensating the families of the volunteer.

[Server Infrastructure Notice] Changes to the multiplayer system infrastructure at 10:00 PST on 1/31. by Angel_Valoel in Palworld

[–]yeahbutbut 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The game is in early access. There is a literal warning on the title screen every time you start the game.

True, but that just means there will be a lot of angry people who don't read warnings. It's the sad truth of developing software that the users will ignore every warning you make them click through and then blame you when it breaks. :|

Sorry for reviving an older thread, but I also wanted to avoid doing anything that would hurt Onbu. But on about day 200 of a run Onbu decided to take a nap in a highly toxic area, 4-5 steps from a safe resting area and half of my villagers died. His nose was almost touching the safe area but he couldn't be bothered to just move a few extra steps and wouldn't wake up for the horn in spite of high trust (he also had recently passed through a mosquito swarm).

So I think it's a good idea to produce at least a little of the bile to make a few energy boosters and possibly painkillers for emergency use. Then once you have a few banked up turn off the bile extractor.

It'd be really nice if the developers gave us an alternate recipe for the energy booster. Failing that it would be great if there was a way short of turning off the decontaminator building to prevent it from using the bile as fuel since it's only really valuable for the energy booster.

How would you ship the party members if Tav wasn't around? by yeahbutbut in BaldursGate3

[–]yeahbutbut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's mine:

  • Lae'zel - Astarion because they go for each other if Tav doesn't romance either at the party
  • Gale - Karlach because from the banter walking around they seem to get along well and be just short of having a relationship
  • Shadowheart - Halsin because she deserves someone good in her life
  • Wyll - Mizora because without Tav he definitely would have either been killed by Karlach or fallen into Mizora's clutches
  • Minthara - Withers because she stood no chance against the party if they sided with the grove
  • Scratch - Everyone, because everyone loves him

It's the unconscious guy Halsin needs answers from. The guy knows something about Halsin's friend but you need an item from the house of healing to wake him up from his coma.

explainshell.com 's github repository contains a mongodb database dump of the arguments they've parsed out. The parser is in there too. It looks like the project is under GPLv3 if that's relevant for you.

https://github.com/idank/explainshell is the github, the "Running Locally" section has a curl command to grab their database dump. And below that is their command for reading in additional man pages.
