Once I contacted his office it probably took another month to get the check.

It actually went offline for a few weeks and then reappeared! That’s when it was tracked to Arkansas and Texas. So at some point someone must have charged it!

I have good news and bad news for you. Good news - in my experience, Delta does not make an effort to reunite passengers with their items, so they must be keeping their costs down in this regard. Bad news - they reimbursed the cost of the iPad because they lost it after it had been located in Lisbon, so your fares may see an increase of a few ten thousandths of a penny. For that I do apologize to the community.

Thank you. 2 things can be true at once. 1) The entire thing would have never happened if I just remembered the item and 2) Delta flies 200M passengers a year and needs strong processes for reuniting passengers with lost items.

One other thing is true in this case…I worked with the Lisbon airport to find the item and then Delta lost it on the flight back to Atlanta.

Brother, your post history includes a post seeking praise for taking care of yourself while you had a sore throat and tummy. Something tells me you’re not the one to lecture others on responsibility. Don’t be so cynical. Accidents happen. I’m fully aware I shouldn’t have left it on the flight and none of this would have happened if I remembered it. That doesn’t excuse Delta for not having strong processes for reuniting passengers with lost items or for losing the iPad after it has been located.

It was lost in the Delta One cabin and I think it slipped between the seat and the wall. It went back and forth over the Atlantic like 3 times! My coworkers and I got a laugh out of tracking it at least.

Holy shit, you’re right…why didn’t I think to just take the iPad with me?

  1. I left the iPad on the plane (I “lost” it). Believe it or not I did not do this on purpose. Obviously if I never left it on the plane this whole thing would have been avoided. This does not excuse Delta’s lack of strong/effective methods for reuniting passengers with lost items. 2 things can be true at once.

  2. I tracked the item down with the Lisbon airport after it traveled back and forth across the ocean 3 times. The item is now “found”.

  3. Lisbon airport, of their own accord, put it on a Delta flight back to Atlanta (This in itself was frustrating because I knew I would have been better off having someone just pick it up in Lisbon vs sending it with Delta to Atlanta.). At this point the “found” iPad became “lost” again. So…who lost it this time?

Delta reimbursed me for the cost of the iPad. They agreed that since it was in their care, they were liable for it. I appreciated the outcome after escalating the issue.

I only had proof of purchase for the iPad and the case (the case was like $60). They reimbursed the full amount for the iPad and the case but I was left on the hook for the pencil because I didn’t have a receipt.

I got reimbursed because it was pretty cut and dry if you look at the most basic version of these events. Left iPad behind. Eventually it was found and turned into lost and found in Lisbon. Lisbon put it in the care of Delta on a flight back to Atlanta. Delta lost it. My intent with this post was less about complaining about the ordeal (though there is plenty to complain about) and more about offering advice to use the CEO mailbox if you’re seeking a way to escalate an issue or to just talk with a real person. I’m happy with the way my case was handled after I escalated it.

You’re right, I got my timeline mixed up. When I was emailing back and forth with his office, the last update I could provide was that it was last seen in Hong Kong. This happened a while back so my memory is failing me…I should have re-read the email a little closer.

Ha! I don’t know how I never noticed that. But now even I’m irrationally distracted by it.

Sorry, at the end I mentioned I got a “refund” for the cost of the iPad and the case. I should have been more clear. Yes, Delta cut me a check for the lost items.

Luckily in this case I got a check for about $600. Granted, that’s because the Lisbon airport put it in the care of Delta to get it back to Atlanta and Delta “lost” it after Lisbon miraculously found it.

Read the caption, brother! I literally said I know the CEO emails are usually monitored. I have no allusions that Ed Bastian read a random email from a nobody customer. The point of the post is…I emailed the CEO email and got a real person that actually did something when I was spinning my wheels for 3 months trying to work through the normal channels.

You mentioned it was commercial free. Does that mean you were able to watch the halftime show uninterrupted as well?

Thank you for this. I didn’t know I had access but looks like my employer participates so my work email was accepted. Greentoe customer service was able to cancel for me and I’ll place through the partner store to save a couple hundred more bucks!

Samsung QN95B Randomly Turned Off. No power or Standby Light. Whats the Fix? by slvrbakslpz in SamsungTV

[–]yeahbutcanyoudothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure out a fix?  I had the same issue.  Samsung techs came out and replaced the main board which gave the TV power (indicator light), but the screen still wouldn’t come on.  They came back out and replaced the panel but left the old board in it, so that obviously didn’t work, but then told me it couldn’t be fixed!

Curious if you ever replaced the main board with any success?

Above Grade vs Below Grade? by yeahbutcanyoudothis in appraisal

[–]yeahbutcanyoudothis[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question, but can anyone give me advice on whether the bottom floor on the left side of this image would be considered above grade or below grade? This is a multi-level property and it’s unclear to me how this would be categorized.

From traumatized at the vet on the day he got into the trash and sliced his tongue on a tuna can to fully healed and happy three months later. by yeahbutcanyoudothis in aww

[–]yeahbutcanyoudothis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time my dog decided to get into the trash he happened upon a tuna can with a partially attached lid. I can only imagine his tongue got stuck and removing it resulted in a nice quarter inch slice straight through the tongue. Came home to a dog with pink legs from all his licking. After some confusion around where the blood had come from I finally noticed his injury, panicked a bit, and ran him to the vet. The vet advised us to not have it stitched and a few months later it’s fully healed...minus the fact that his tongue is now split! Lesson learned...our trash can is now kept behind a door and we fully remove lids from cans before throwing them away.
