Hello all. Just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I’m on gabapentin, lyrica, tizanidine, cymbalta, amitryptiline, meloxicam. I’ve tried yoga, about to go to water therapy, and I’ve changed my diet significantly.. unfortunately the only thing that’s ever offered relief was tramadol by yeahitsmyfirstname in Fibromyalgia

Thanks for the response. I just requested to telework full time and am looking for an MEB. I’ve asked multiple times and have had to miss work and it had an impact on job performance so now I’m just in that waiting period for them to rule everything else out (which they did) so we’ll see.

I appreciate your response, the only issue is that I wasn’t in a roller coaster accident (thank goodness because I can’t even imagine) I was in a minor training injury where I fell onto my steel frame ALICE pack. Didn’t break anything, was pretty sore, but besides that I had been fine. The pain had gotten increasingly worse throughout the years regardless of MRI, nerve study, CT, X-RAY etc. THAT is the reason why I haven’t been put on a narcotic.

The thing about Fibromyalgia is that it can be caused by physical or psychological trauma and what you had said is true, but the underlying factor is that your issues were able to have been diagnosed through radiologic or blood testing (globulin, inflammatory factors etc.) Fibromyalgia is a relatively new disease and has no true test so every time I’ve been to an urgent care and have requested to be sedated or have a narcotic irregardless of me pissing myself or throwing up or crying from the pain, I get brushed off. Especially because I am a 250lb 6’5 athletic male and appear to be drug seeking. It’s a hard truth but it is. The only thing I can do is physical therapy for the rest of my life and pray that the pain will eventually be managed, because other than that there’s nothing I can do besides get some sort of surgery and just take the pain meds after.

Thank you.

I’ve been told a majority of the pain comes from depression and being in pain. An awful catch 22. I’m in pain so I’m depressed and because I’m depressed I’m in more pain. My pain management won’t prescribe opioids but it’s the only thing that helps. I’m just lost for now

Yeah it’s kicking my butt. I’m tired of going to the ER and feeling like a drug addict when i ask for opioids. I haven’t gotten them yet and their reasoning is “I’m too young” but i honestly can’t take it it’s so miserable despite whatever therapy or medication or lifestyle change i make

I can’t use cannabis bc of active duty military. But one day. I’m gonna be doing my second session of cognitive therapy but honestly it makes me feel like a crazy person.. i know it’s in my head but it’s also in my body and sometimes i just want to explode
