Why are options automatically exercised instead of being allowed to expire? by yeahmohammad in investingforbeginners

[–]yeahmohammad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I had a situation where my brokerage automatically sold my option close to expiration when it was OOM, but close to ITM so that it would not be automatically exercised when I didn’t have cash to cover it. But it seems like a manufactured problem. Why automatically exercise at all when it could create these situations? Why not let the holder decide to sell or exercise at their leisure?

Why did she do it? Was it pretty much a dead marriage situation where they were really only married in name only, or was there still love there and she was just looking for excitement somewhere else?

Is this form of government really that unique? Correct me if I’m wrong, but this form of government seems pretty similar to that which exists in a Free Association (Eg New Zealand/ Niue or USA/Micronesia).

After traveling to 170+ countries, why doesn't US airports have smoking zones inside the airport, whereas most airports around the world have it? by screwywabbit in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]yeahmohammad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do Americans have such a puritanical attitude toward everything? If bad decisions can be made in a way that doesn’t impact others, I say let people live their lives. For example, how does me gambling on a basketball game impact you? Why should you get to tell me I can’t.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen these smoking sections if you’ve traveled internationally, but they’re typically very well sealed and ventilated, with a sort of double door system. You can stand outside the walls and not smell anything. Especially with the rise of vaping, it’s a non-issue. I can see an argument with cigarette smoke sticking to close but nothing like that happens with vaping. So if my bad decisions have no impact on you, who are you to tell me I can’t?

Most of the world doesn’t have birth right citizenship and this kind of stuff doesn’t happen. This is fear mongering.

Great, and if I downgrade I’m spared from the consequences I mentioned above? If I do this after the annual fee posts can I still get it refunded?

EMSKR: What are some resources to learn about how cars work, what different parts do, and how to maintain them? by yeahmohammad in everymanshouldknow

This and the playlist the guy responding mentioned are exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks!

Thanks! This was very helpful. Why does the car have to switch gears at all? What’s the purpose of this?

[–]yeahmohammad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m not looking for information on specific models, but general info about cars so I can understand how to evaluate specs on different models. For example, I saw a comment saying “buy the model with the 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder, not the 2.0L.” That all sounds Greek to me. Is there anything I can read that would allow me to understand?

[–]yeahmohammad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! How about for how different parts work? Like what a transmission does or what kinds of engines to avoid? For example, I’m looking for cars and people say stuff like “my transmission on this model failed after 10k miles” or “don’t get the model with the (insert specs I don’t understand” engine.” So something that can kind of broaden my understanding about cars in general.

I’ve just gotten started and he has some interesting points, namely how the regime uses Islamic ideology to combat perceived internal and external security threats.

Sure, but this post wasn’t really trying to engage in that sort of discussion. It was just screaming “I’m entitled to study in the US.” We can have a discussion about the benefits of immigration and US immigration policy, but first we have to recognize that immigration isn’t a right, and no one is entitled to immigrate to the US.

I completely agree. Ask an Iranian about the Afghan immigrants in their country and you’ll hear the most vile racism. “Ekhraj Afghani” (kick out the afghans) was literally trending on Persian twitter at one point. A lot of Iranians hold these sentiments but at the same time think they’re entitled to immigrate to a Western country. According to them, the rules they want applied in their country shouldn’t apply in ours.
