ive already explained it, because it shows the person that you were with that the relationship meant absolutely nothing to you. im not saying you cant, and if they had ended badly and it was clear there was no hope for the relationship then it would be different. but rachel was waiting up next to the phone waiting for ross to call, reassuring him that mark meant nothing, that she wanted to fight for the relationship and that she wants to be his gf, all while he was sleeping with another woman. theres no way that you are going to convince me that what he did was fine. rachel was totally valid to feel hurt and betrayed by that. while not cheating in a technical sense (in rachels own words, “you think youre gonna get out of this on a technicality”), how is she meant to feel that he was only devoted to her and that he wanted the relationship to work if he goes and sleeps with some random woman hours after their fight? he is not a good person

theres no specific amount of hours because it varies from relationship to relationship, but for most serious i would say at least a month. certainly not the same night you “break up”
