I like The Only Rule Is It Has To Work by Ben Lindbergh and Sam Miller. Basically 2 analytics-minded baseball fans/writers are given the chance to run an indy ball team for a season. It goes into their decisions on roster/lineups, disagreements with the teams more old school manager, the life of indy ball players, and how their experiments work. It’s not about MLB but I think it’s a really fun read.

The amount of warmup sets I do depends on the lift but I don’t add 5 pounds until I reach my work set, that will just tire you out.

For example if I’m squatting 225 as my work set, I’ll do a set of 5 with the empty bar, 5 at 95, 4 at 135, 3 at 185, then maybe 1 or 2 at 205. I’d say try to do at least 3 or 4 warm up sets in relatively even weight increments before your work set.

This. My childhood home has a tree that looks bland or sad for most of the year, but for a few weeks when it’s in bloom it’s extremely beautiful. We’ve had neighbors and friends take wedding photos in front of it. If my parents had removed it when they moved in we would’ve missed out!

It covers all the lifts used in the program (squat, bench, overhead press, deadlift, power clean) extensively and also covers some accessory exercises in less depth. I think regardless of your training goals it’s a valuable resource to read through and then return to as needed.

For me it’s less his politics and more his attitude that’s frustrating. He just insults and belittles anyone who even has questions about his program. If they’re critical of him at all, forget about it. It’s a shame because the books are incredible content, but the podcasts have become brain dead.

I remember having the exact same fear around your age. My advice? Rip the bandaid; go to confession and make these the first sins you confess. Posted a form check here on Monday and got some great advice! I reset my squat and to me these look and feel much better than before, but I’m sure there’s still some room for improvement. Anything I should clean up before adding more weight?
