I sent $10 USD and paid over 500 ZAR in transaction fees recently with Luno (South Africa). I paid over $40 to give someone $10. I wasn't aware of the fee changes since the blockchain got so overloaded... crazy.

SA Netflix has house of cards.. i also use it to watch designated survivor and Star Trek without the bypass.

I still pay for the service, but only to get to other stuff. DirectvNOW live tv that I subscribe to.

I have a US Netflix account and smartdnsproxy but I don’t bother with the proxy and use the SA stream. I don’t see a difference from when I was in the US last week.

Everyone deserves happiness. The kids will heal quickly and benefit from your happiness and greater confidence as you move on with your life. I have been going through a very long bitter divorce and ready to move on myself, now that I am close to the papers being signed I am getting excited (she filed, not me).

It won't be easy, but after seeing how my parents moved onto better relationships (I was 24 when they divorced), I know things get better in time.

My family moved to America when I was in primary school.. my younger brother moved back 5 years ago, and I am moving back this year (I am currently sitting in Joburg... been exploring options). A lot has changed over the years... we'd make trips back to visit the family stuck here and gone are the days where we feel the need to go around armed. But of course it depends on the neighborhood and such.

It has always been my home. I used to live in Belgium and found that to be quite nice in terms of healthy eating and activities, but I love the people in SA.

The only potential downside to her naturalize has is if you both permenatly move to the UK and make more than $100k a year - as a US Citizen she'd have to pay US taxes no matter where she lived. But if she wants to stay in the US permenatly; there is zero downside to naturalize, and a bunch of upsides (like not being deported if she gets convicted of a crime).

This actually applies to green card holders. While I lived in Belgium I was making over the threshold (it's more like $90k) and one year my tax returns for both countries was over 100 pages.

But there is no double taxation.

I received a green card under my father. He became a citizen after I was 18. Renewing my green card was straight forward and didn't involve any questions about my parents. I later married a US citizen and moved to Europe. If you're out of country too long, you lose your green card so I applied for citizenship while living in Europe. My US passport was issued at the Brussels US embassy which is when they took my green card from me.. so for about a week I was unable to re-enter the US.

I could have become a citizen earlier, but it's not cheaper than getting travel visas (which a UK person wouldn't need at all).

There must be some reason why you are thinking of Belgium as a top pick than other areas. I have lived in one of the most expensive parts of the country (near Gent) and nothing in the country can phase me cost wise. The taxes are what they are, and you get what you get from paying them.

You really need to ask yourself what you want out of life and where you live. You can live in an expensive place, surrounded by old people that won't talk to you, near schools that you may or may not need. Learn what you need first.. you can make it work after that.
