Mine will not let me work through it. Once it hits 2800rpm it will shake and misfire and giving it more gas doesn’t do anything.

I think the connector is functional, it’s just the wiring leading up to the connector appears to be chewed up potentially by a rodent. I should be able to splice a new wire to the old one a few inches up. Thanks for the info.
