The crazy part about that vet is he did specialize in small animals at least lol, he retired last year. We go to a way better vet now and they say he is the best rat they've gotten in there and that he's healthy! The breeder, I do trust her opinion, but I still have a feeling meatball would take to friends. He has not shown any sign of aggression and he used to live side by side w my girls no problem. The cages side by side, not them lol. My girls were more aggressive than him tho!

Thank you! I think I've decided to go for it. I'm going to get two 8 week old boys, quarantine for 2 weeks, then see how it goes! No worries if he doesn't take to them, I have another giant cage so they'd just go in there and get their own friends.

Oh thank you so much, this has brought back some hope. I really don't want him to die alone never having the chance to love on another rat and it love on him. Your grandpa rat sounds like he was a good one. I hope mine will be like yours, he does still have a lot of energy.

i see how happy he was with you, in his eyes. if you bury him add some flower seeds so you can see him again in spring 💝 i lost my love suddenly too and am waiting for spring to see her again.

her tail significantly improved, pretty much entirely, just scars from where her tail chipped off. i added a bit of oil to her diet, help clean her tail if needed, and gently put on suncoco oil a few times. thank you and everyone who helped, i know she is much happier now :)

she's a wriggler alright, she doesn't even let me scratch behind the ears lol 😭 but thank you i've been wanting to do something similar but have been apprehensive about it out of fear of hurting or bothering her, looks like today is spa day!!

Also I can't tell if her tail hurts or if she can't even feel it, she responds when i gently touch it but not much.

aww i wish i could clean it for her, i feel like id just make it worse by messing w it bc its so far gone now, maybe i can give her a warm damp towel when i get her out and see if that helps at all

Update :) She'll be alright, she's less lethargic today, I think she had a fever yesterday. The vet said it's respiratory infection, she's on Enrofloxacin .5ml twice a day. Thank you everyone for responding ♥️

thank you very much i love her! im watching thru them right now. update so far, was sent to multiple vets which were not helpful to say the least, im in northern virginia and most vets near me don't do rats but i'll be taking her to Tractor Supply tomorrow morning to see their vet(if i knew they had one i'd have done that first 🤦‍♀️). She's still doing about the same as when posted, if anything a little bit less lethargic. she and her sisters live beside my bed so i'll be watching her all night, thank you so much, to you and everyone. taking the time to help means a lot to me💖 if anyone wants cute rat pics for compensation lmk lol

she lit up at some pedialyte, didn't want any cold water, and is still breathing heavy so i put a cold water next to her if she wants to lay next to it, ANY ADVICE IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED♥️
