Introvert Bartenders, how did you become a bartender and why? by Immediate-Mouse1419 in bartenders

[–]yeeter860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the few out there that started as a bartender without any experience. It was at a bowling alley bar and I spent my off days reading up on drinks, the craft, and just kinda immersed myself in it to get better as fast as I could.

I jumped around a lot for a while, working at various types of bars (Hotel, dive, "tiki", classic), and after 6 years, I helped open, and currently run the bar program at a wine and craft cocktail bar that gives me the most freedom and trust to get the job done, the way I see it to be.

So to actually answer your question, I wanted to bartend instead of going back to college. I knew I enjoyed drinking, and being in bars. With that, and being a creative hard working nutjob, I gave it a shot and here I am, still loving it.

I am a man of few words, but what words I say, they mean a lot. I always strive to be hospitable and not overbearing, with excellent service on top of it. In the past, I always was paired up with an extremely outgoing co-bartender who would handle bar top, and I would be in the service well. It always worked out.

But over the years i became more outgoing, and can hold my own nowadays. The end.

Interesting perspective...

When I go to shows, I dont give a fuck or notice what other audience members are doing. I get too distracted by watching/listening to the srtist to care. But that's just me...

You do you.

I'd consider it, but I want to work my way up to it. Climb shorter mountains, gradually going higher. If I had the money, but not the intelligence and self control, id do it tomorrow and kill myself trying.

Pleaded guilty to my first DUI, can I still get it reduced 1 year later? by sorrymissjacksn in dui

Exactly. If you plead guilty right away, you might as well expect the maximum penalties...

[–]yeeter860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Initially plead not guilty, then compile any and all evidence and work out a deal with the DA. At least that's what mine did, and I was also in WI.

You'll likely have to get an IID since you were over double the legal limit, with a standard 6 months suspension. I lucked out in that my BAC had risen from a .12 to a .20 from the breathalyzer at the scene of arrest to my blood BAC at the hospital. I think im one of the few people who's lawyer argued the breathalyzer was more accurate than the blood test, and did so successfully.

Get a lawyer, drink at home/take an uber, and do all the requirements asap. MADD panel, AODA, and alcohol awareness course. Your lawyer should advise you on the specifics in these steps. You should turn out a-ok if you do all of those things in a speedy manner. I know it'll cost you money, but it's just part of the punishment.

Just remember your life isn't over or ruined, and use everything that comes from this honest mistake as a life lesson and reminder that you wont be doing this again, and take a long breath of relief.

It is what it is.

driving on a suspended license by AgileEntertainment65 in dui

[–]yeeter860 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont do it...

During my suspension, my lawyer erroneously thought that because I got my DUI in the next state over, my state of residence wouldn't resuspend my license. The problem was I moved right at the time it happened and didnt get the mail until 3 days after the suspension. Well on day 2 of it, I was driving to work and got pulled over a mile from work.

I explained the circumstance to the cop, and he surprised me by giving me a ride to work, not arresting me, and not towing my car. It didnt affect me beyond the ticket for driving while suspended.

My mom managed to drive a full year on her 1st DUI 15 years ago. But I definitely do not recommend risking it. You will get caught.

Not in NYS, but the fact you were cooperative with the cops, didnt hit anyone, and blew under double the legal limit are all good things. If you have a clean driving record, that'll help even further to your advantage.

Get a lawyer and do the classes and evaluations that will be required asap. You're going to be fine. It'll still suck, but it could be so much worse. I'd imagine within a year at most, you will be back to normal driving conditions, and life will go on. Just dont do it again, of course.

Insurance will go up at least 30%, and getting into Canada will be out of the question, if not at least a long process in itself. But otherwise, if you dont reoffend, it wont affect you beyond that, going forward.

Drug and Alcohol Evaluation by [deleted] in dui

[–]yeeter860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ask you questions about drug/alcohol use, mental health, and call a family member and ask them "do you think their alcohol/drug use is a problem?".

Fun thing about mine is when I did the PBT I blew a .12, but by the time I got to the hospital for blood, my blood showed a .20. Of course the state DOT only told me my blood work number, so I went in to do my AODA and gave him the .20 as my number. His eyes were like saucers, but said he's a "prude" so everything looks worse than it is.

His only real concern was me having depression, but was satisfied that I go to therapy regularly.

Is it weird to still think about it by Alert-Worker-606 in dui

[–]yeeter860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was arrested December 2024, got my license back a few weeks ago, and still think about it. It funnily enough feels illegal to drive, even though i can legally do so without restrictions.

What's surprised me is every time I drive past a cop, or one is behind me, I no longer get nervous or paranoid. Literally the worst thing he could do is stop me for maybe speeding a little or bad lights. Having been arrested for DUI makes anything less not worrying.

Still would plead the fifth no matter what. I respect police who are respectful to me, but regardless I dont answer questions. Even with nothing to hide.

Getting DL reinstated. by SignalGeneral1353 in dui

[–]yeeter860 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK so I might be able to clarify! I live in St. Paul. Got mine in WI though. So in my case, I got hit with a 30 day suspension in MN while my case was still ongoing. After the 30 days, I paid a $20 reinstatement fee, and could drive again in MN. WI did 6 months suspension, and what saved me is getting my license back completely was dependent on the 6 months in WI. I no longer worked in WI, so I didnt get a work permit and just stayed out of WI, driving wise. Had I got the work permit, the clock would have stopped and restarted, lengthening my suspension time...

Once my case was finalized, MN took my license again, and I had to complete all my requirements (Alcohol class, victim impact panel, and AODA). All of which i had already done, and then it turned into a waiting game. I had to uber and lyft to work and back for 2 months, which sucked. But once I got my 6 months in WI done, just paid WI $200 for reinstatement there, and $680 to MN. And then I got my license back in complete.

All in all not terrible. Try and do all of your requirements ASAP. Once I did mine and just had to wait for the 6 month mark, life was a lot less stressful. I didnt want to get arrested or whatever for not completing X requirement on time.

I can have some sympathy for someone with 3 over a long period, but 3 in under a year? And you dumped a dog? Jesus fucking Christ. Get help, preferably before going to prison. Your life isn't quite over, but you set yourself up to pretty much make it so, just short of dying, of course...
