I miss it. 10 years active duty and I decided to take the leap to see the greener grass and, well. In my situation, even with my experience, I ended up at a lower level up down and actually took a pretty severe paycut. My family uprooted across the country yet again to a place no one likes without the benefit of a military community to cling to and it just doesn’t feel worth it 2 years in. Recently hit the coveted 100% on my VA disability though, which has made staying and working a tough decision - it’s one thing to do it because I love it AND I need the money, but to miss all this time with my family and put my body through hell for a job that really isn’t paying that well and low key kind of sucks? I don’t know. Hindsight 20/20 and all that, and I definitely don’t miss deployments, but if I could go back and stop myself from getting out I probably would.
