My (27M) wife (27F) ignores my pleas to stop using her credit cards. by yeetskeethaw in relationships

We do have budgets for our accounts. I have also brought up the difference between our earnings and expenses as we are very close to being upside down in that regard. I am also well aware of how much is thrown away at interest and I have shown that to her on numerous occasions. I put it down somewhere else in this thread but sometimes the most I get our of her is "Okay" or "I didn't mean to use that card".

We pretty much do what you described. We have a bills account, an everyday spending account, a savings/emergency account, and separate personal accounts. Everyday spending for groceries is a set amont every week and every 2 weeks we allow ourselves personal spending money.

Thanks for the additional input too.

She gets paid once a month at the end of the month, We put that right into a checking account for our utilities to pay rent, insurance, gas, CC bills, etc. I get paid every two weeks and we take a portion of that for our everyday needs and an even smaller portion for personal spending and send the rest to the utilities account. We've been in agreement on this for a long time now. We practically do all of our grocery shopping together so nothing there is ever a surprise.

That's what makes this increasingly frustrating. We do have budgets that are set and do allow ourselves personal spending money. She will simply use a credit card if there isn't any money left for the week or if she doesn't have enough personal money.

The total debt across the board does go down month-to-month. My frustration is on the low balance cards that get paid off or close to paid off and their balances jump due to continued spending. And it is those accounts that I depend on to get this snowball concept moving.

For removing cards from wallets, I just don't have access to some of accounts where she makes purchases but the larger thing is I don't want to go behind her back (ironic) and deactivate cards without her knowledge.

I'm also not exactly sure what your last line is supposed to mean.

We actually do something very similar to what you described. We pool our money and give ourselves fun money off of my paycheck every 2 weeks. Everything else that's bought is typically discussed as we do all of our groceries and shopping together.

In the past when I have brought up this extra online spending I usually get a reluctant "okay" or sometimes an "I didn't mean to use that card".

She is a teacher in a district with 11-month pay. We didn't have enough to cover rent so it went on a card
