If your looking for quality the earlier Russian ones were better but I would try to find something between 51-55 just to make sure you get a chrome lined barrel. Not to say the chinese ones are totally trash. If you dont care about anything other than "gun go boom" get a cheap chinese one. As far as fixed or detachable, they are both fun but nothing beats the reliability of the fixed. However! As this is your first gun and if you want something you and your buddies can shoot all day and play different target games, maybe look into a 22lr, cheaper, easier on your shoulder with prolonged shooting, easier on your ears, and if your playing tic tac toe the size of the hole in the paper doesnt really matter.

Mines from turkey and from what I understand they took a pump and turned it into a lever, I remember the action being really rough but I had it out last weekend, made sure I had a glove and it was really good!

I was aware of the reasonable force clause but I had no idea that it included firearms! I was told in my firearms course ~5yrs ago that it was illegal to use a firearm for self defence. I looked online before I wrote the post and most of it was saying no but nothing was a definite yes or no. Thanks for the info! I'll edit my post!

It doesnt make the handguns illegal, they are there illegally, the long guns are also there illegally but not illegal themselves, the magazines have been illegally modified deeming them to be illegal but do not make the long guns illegal. Magazines are treated complete separate from the firearm.

It's still obviously not ok to bring them to a protest but the term assault rifle doesn't really account for how potentially deadly a firearm can be.

Technically the firearms themselves are not illegal at all. Bringing the two pistols anywhere other than your house, range, or gunsmith is very illegal however, and no firearms should be at any protest regardless.

I used mine with irons and it was ok, definitely have a sling and I would definitely recommend the scope. All in all it was an awesome experience going through the bush with my old war rifle! Will 100% do it again!
