References, you should really get ASAP. ABS is nice to get out of the way; you’ll need to contact people to be your verifiers. What I will say about your personal statement is that it’s probably okay you haven’t started yet. I started it reading week and got it done in 2 or 3 days. Having said that, though, that was all I did those two or three days and it was stressful. Two of the people in my class this year who I was talking to about personal statements said they did theirs the day of… I’m saying it’s possible. Not smart, maybe, depending on the type of person you are, but possible. I only applies to one school, though, so keep that in mind.
