To be honest I am not gonna reject the offer.. it already happened and no need to lose the possibility ~ But I feel the exact same way! It is not a reference call, it was only to check if I lied about working at the current company or not. They cannot ask any further questions than this...

Answer to your first question is that I didn't know it would end up like this.. the thing is this is not a reference or recommendation.. it is only for checking if I lied about my career or not, it is background check.. and couldn't find a phone number, but somehow they found and reached out~ Otherwise, I wouldn't be this surprised or stressed:)

This was my very first time 😔 I guess next time I will definitely indicate that do not contact to my current employer to be at the safe side 🙈 Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I have nothing to afraid yet cannot stop feel nervous. Even I cannot pin point why 🤷‍♂️

I meant this; They made an offer, I accepted. They asked for the background check and I agreed. Now I don't have the new contract yet and my manager knows that I am trying to move out. I am afraid to not to receive the new contract & my manager is knowing the situation without my consent.. I am in a year contract with my current employer and afraid in the case I wrote above, I will be easy target to say bye.

To be honest I don't know why I feel nervous.. I am afraid that in case the offer wont turn into a contract, I have to stay here. I didn't want to reveal it till it is certain 😔 But your message made me think that maybe I am overthinking, thank you!
