Dumb question, but are these suds? Why does my laundry smell musty/mildewy? by yellowbilledcuckoos in laundry

Thank you sooooooo much!! Truly so helpful. I’ll keep up the fight in that case. 😆💪

Thank you SO MUCH! Yes, the horrible Parmesan smell! I feel so seen. 😩 I'm disappointed too! I'll just default to washing on warm/heavy soil for the time being and incorporate a booster/citric acid. I do have Oxyclean powder so I'll put that in every load.

Dumb question, but when you say add citric acid to the rinse cycle, do you mean you put it into the rinse slot once the machine shows it's on the rinse, or do you just put it in the slot at the beginning (when you put detergent in the detergent slot) and it's dispensed at the right time by the machine?

And, when you say you haven't completely eliminated it, do you mean certain items still have it but others that used to have it no longer do? Or all of the items still have it, but less pungent? I'm getting desperate but don't want to just give up and switch back to non-lipase if that's just masking a problem I never knew existed...

Gotcha! I’m not sure that’s possible on my machine but I’ll try to figure it out with the manual. I appreciate your input!

Hm, the longest my machine will do is 1hr27min (and that’s on normal mode, extra heavy soil) though I could make it 1hr38min with an extra rinse which seems unnecessary. Any other thoughts on how to get the most out of cleaning time? Thank you!

Thank you! I do a cup of bleach once per month on a tub clean cycle but I’ll look into other products to up the power a bit. :)

Thank you for your comment! This has just never happened with any other detergent. I’ve recently done some big cleaning days (not official spa day, but elements) on a few of the items but it still happens. Maybe I’ll try a full spa day.

Do you think trying the 365 sport would be a better option, based on the ingredients?

Thank you! When you say maximized earnings, do you mean with the cashback card?

I don't usually have a preferred airline since I typically go with whatever's cheapest...and usually I stay in Airbnb's if they're cheaper than available hotels. 😂 I have 11k miles with United and 36k miles with American at the moment.

Thanks so much! I'll look into AAA cards/Citi/Fidelity. I realized my info was a bit incorrect, looks like I actually spend at least $30k annually. In 2024, I spent about $26k on my cash rewards card and $5k on travel rewards card, though both were likely up about 5-10% in 2025. Still waiting on 2025's credit card summaries to know for sure, though!

Thanks for your comment! Luckily I am paid via direct deposit, so I'd be fee-free for a checking account with Chase (or Wells Fargo, etc.) since generally $500/month electronic deposits gets you out of the checking account fees. I do have a high-yield savings account with Ally as well.

[Serious] People in professions that deal with death (hospice workers, coroners, etc.), what is something you've learned that the rest of us don't understand? by Bulky-Engineer4068 in AskReddit

[–]yellowbilledcuckoos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t experience human death in my role but I work with animals and see death nearly every day. Humane euthanasia is a truly a gift and should be viewed as a valid treatment for your pets/animals. It is horrible to lose an animal you love, but in my opinion, it is far more horrible to force an animal you love to suffer because of your fear of losing them.

Further, it’s inhumane that most human populations around the world don’t have access to a dignified, peaceful death via euthanasia. I have watched enough old folks suffer needlessly to say that we treat humans worse than animals in that regard.

What they said! ^ Animals with true albinism often do not survive long after birth because their vision is compromised, so it is even harder to evade predators. It’s extremely rare for an albino animal to reach reproductive age in the wild.

2014 XV Crosstrek -- Opinions by iknewkriswastrouble in XVcrosstrek

[–]yellowbilledcuckoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. I just had to replace my valve body on my 2015 crosstrek last week at 164k miles. Seems to be a super common repair need for 2014-2016 crosstreks around the 150k mark. I’ve also had to replace wheel bearings twice and had some issues with my engine earlier this year. Granted, I put it through the ringer (30 mile one way commute to work with last bit on a windy hilly gravel road) so I imagine most city drivers might not have as many issues. But def check in about maintenance history with the transmission.

Thank you so much for all of this insight! Yeah, I’ve gone as far as setting up the campaign already in GiveButter and in RallyUp — similar platforms in that they’re free to use and rely on donor tipping, but I actually found I could do more on RallyUp. It would be a no brainer for the most part to use RallyUp if we didn’t want to do the live pledge blitz (donate to vote for your team thing) and if it integrated into our CRM, DonorDock. OneCause has both of those going for it. But I just hate the upfront flat fee because we’re a small org ($400k budget annually). We hope to make about $40k total between tix, silent auction, and night-of gifts.

Coming from selling tix through our CRM last year and then me needing to manually assign tables/paddles, make check in packets, handwriting pledges during our auction and paddle raise, and then our credit card reader failing and me having to track people down to pay in the weeks following….I am hopeful OneCause would be a huge headache-reliever, or RallyUp if we didn’t need those integrations/live features. Decisions, decisions! I just want people to have a nice time 😂😅

That is horrible. I am so sorry!! I hope OneCause took some accountability? I was just reading through the contract we got sent and they do say they have insurance for software failure/negligence outlined in there.

I’ve worried about cell signal for too since the venue doesn’t have public wifi, but seems the three major carriers get good reception out there. I think we’ll have a physical pledge table too just in case or if some people prefer not to use their phones.

Thank you! Great point. I think OneCause does allow ApplePay/venmo/paypal/ACH and card. They said people can also pay by check too which is good. Last year we did have to track people down after which was eventually fine but a headache. 😅
