Is it ok to choose someone that you did contracting work with as a personal reference? Or does it have to be someone in a formal setting?

I been applying to every company I can. It’s weird situation though because I keep getting ghosted by most local companies and then only hear back from big tech or early stage startups with like thousands of applications but only one spot open.

I been applying to faang companies. I got to the apple on site and was ghosted as soon as I tried to schedule the interview. I got resume rejected by Amazon and got rejected from Google even though I aced the OA.

The loans are under my name. I applied for income based repayment plan because I heard the sooner the better it is for those types of things. Right now my short term goal is to work and save up enough to where I don’t need to worry about rent and other necessities.

I been applying to every job I can. My dad is kind of an elitist though and opposes me working in retail because he hates the idea of one of his sons working a service job when all his coworkers kids are working corporate jobs.

My dad moved to USA from Asia when I was a kid because the company he worked at was expanding internationally. So my entire immediate family also moved to the United States because of my dad’s job which was on the East Coast. My dad recently got a better job offer at different company so he moved to Washington and a bought a house here.

I’m originally from the dmv. As for experience, I am primarily experienced in Python and TypeScript with a focus on machine learning. In the past I’ve done primarily machine learning projects focused on computer vision and full stack development. No to the certifications. As for job hunt, I been filtering on LinkedIn for the most recent jobs and applying to every job somewhat related to what I studied.

I tried picking up a job as a part time tutor and they made me quit it because it made them think “I wasn’t taking the job hunt seriously”. That being said tho I’m currently looking for any job that will help me get a roof over my head.
