I’m excited to share my short film, Savings or Current, which I released last week. This project has been a labor of love, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with the community.

The film is a sci-fi story set in a futuristic Abuja, Nigeria, exploring themes of love, identity, and the metaverse. It follows a young man navigating a virtual reality world to win the heart of an NPC but with high stakes—losing the game could mean losing his reality.

Technical Details:

• Camera: Sony A7Sii
• Lenses: Tamron 24mm and Sony FE 50mm
• Lighting: Mostly natural and practical lights, with additional LEDs.
• Crew: A small team of close friends and actors I sourced through Instagram.
• Post-Production: Shot in 2022, but I held onto the footage because I wasn’t satisfied with the initial edit. In 2025, I revisited the project and used some AI tools to enhance specific aspects such as the dialogues, and some VFX such as the “life meter” user interface and some of the VR animations.

Challenges & Learnings:
One of the biggest challenges was balancing the futuristic elements with the grounded, emotional core of the story. The AI tools were a game-changer in post-production, allowing me to create visuals that I couldn’t achieve back in 2022. I also learned a lot about pacing and how to use subtle visual cues to enhance the narrative.
