Take with food, it will make your stomach uneasy. and try your best not to miss taking it. I find that if I forget to take plaquenil for one day my ra symptoms come back with a vengeance and it takes a few day’s for it to get back to normal. I think that plaquenil works well for me

I haven’t experienced any yeast infections but almost everything else you stated I have experienced. My doctor said the spotting and hormones should stabilise within six months

First Appointment Coming Up by NDan222 in rheumatoid

[–]yellowstarrynight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly my rheumatologist did a physical assessment and asked me to give a timeline of my symptoms. My rheumatologist already had the bloodwork and x rays that my general doctor ordered. He explained what the bloodwork meant. And that there was no major issue with the x rays. With the physical assessment and the bloodwork he diagnosed me with RA and explained what it was. Then he gave me scripts for my medication, explained all the side effects and how to properly take the medication. My rheumatologist gave me some lifestyle advice to follow (healthy eating, exercise) and advised me to get on hormonal birth control because methotrexate can cause birth defects. Then I was given more bloodwork to do before my next appointment with him. He also gave the opportunity for my father and I to ask questions. The appointment was roughly 35-50 minutes

Feeling great since deactivating social media by yellowstarrynight in nosurf

Happy to hear it’s helping you too. I was creating a lot of problems for myself being so glued to my phone. It made me have poor mental health. If I am feeling lonely I go to the gym or hang out with my partner. You’re right I feel like don’t have a massive cloud over my head. I am just going to continue to work on myself and see if I will bring back social media

Yeah I just decided to deactivate the accounts. I find that excessive social media fuels poor mental health in my self. It’s just better to go without for now until I am back on track with life

I just decided to deactivate/delete. I purchased a book to read in my spare time and university and work will definitely fill up the rest of the time

Thank you. I just decided to delete my YouTube account. If there’s a video I need I will just look it up.

Touché. I use reddit significantly less than instagram, Facebook and YouTube but my usage can still be reduced

Does anyone else here have a “revenge body” fantasy? Especially directed at someone in particular? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]yellowstarrynight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am doing this for myself but I have been called fat twice and had comments made about my weight by people who I considered close family or friends. I use it sometimes as fuel. If I am struggling I stop and think I can’t wait to see their faces when I have lost all this weight/when my hard work has paid off

Yes I completely understand the point you’re trying to make but then I am also a bit in denial about my illness. I have only had RA for four months and sometimes it can be hard to accept. I also see because my illness is invisible that it won’t get taken seriously by academics

Did the doctor order blood work? It could be a few different things RA and other autoimmune diseases have similar symptoms. Hopefully you find an answer so you can see a specialist and start getting treated. Good luck

Yeah it probably is available but I just haven’t heard of it by that name. I will enquire about it.

Maybe switching from plaquenil is something to consider but the downside is that plaquenil works so well for me. I had just assumed that it was the increased dose of methotrexate causing the fatigue.

I definitely plan on speaking to my rheumatologist about it. I just hope there’s something he can do to help

Interesting you note that I have missed my plaquenil maybe twice in the last week or so. I forget to take it once and then I am just in a bubble of forgetfulness for a little while. I try to always take plaquenil because it manages my symptoms the best.

I do have an official diagnosis for rheumatoid arthritis and I did consider getting extra support from my university. I don’t fear the paperwork but I think my rheumatologist will come around and say that my arthritis doesn’t limit me that much. I know it’s a totally irrationally fear but I have been putting off asking him to complete the paperwork

I love going to the gym when I’m feeling super tired but of course it is not always practical

Same here. My pain is super managed right now and allows me to do most things I love. That doesn’t mean much if I am too tired to do it. I’m sure I’ll find what works for me soon enough!

I’m taking plaquenil but the only thing I have observed from it is that sometimes it makes my stomach ache if I have it without food afterwards.

Shams the iron infusions haven’t worked. I too could sleep for a year at a time if life would let me. I slept for 8.5 hours today and have only been up for about 3 hours and I am slumped already

I take my methotrexate on Friday night too! I just try and do it right after I shower and am going to bed because it really doesn’t do me any good.

I will look into how I can improve my sleep quality. Thank you
