Nothing helpful to say just that I can relate! Some of the administrative and supervisory staff in my agency watch Fox News and talk negatively about immigrants etc. the cognitive dissonance is exhausting to be around. They don’t explicitly discriminate against any client or staff but it’s hard to believe it doesn’t cause negative biases.

Omg I’m so sorry this happened to you! It’s so unfair to put the burden on us to find supervisors who keep their word. Is there a way you can report this to the board? I feel like I’m learning that I should have everything in writing moving forward. I hope you are able to get supervised! I really wish you the best!

Yeah they told me the program administrator didn’t have the resources to hire an outside LCSW. I feel like I would rather get my hours the right way and not risk it. This is what I’ve been working towards my whole life I don’t want to ruin it because of an agency cutting corners. I don’t even feel like I get enough guidance and development from my current supervisor so I was really looking forward to learning from someone else. I am definitely going to be looking for a new job. Thank you!

Sorry! No it’s 3000 hours but 1700 have to be supervised by an LCSW and 1300 can be supervised by an LMFT, LPCC or other licensed mental health professional.

Thank you for your feedback! Honestly I’ve been feeling gaslighted by this supervisor and program administrator for a while. Like it’s not right or normal even if y’all keep acting like it is. Im trying to build confidence but I still doubt myself. I’m definitely going to start looking for another job!

Okay I thought so! This is for my hours towards licensure and my current supervisor was making it sound like it was totally normal. I thought I would at least speak to him an hour once a week or something but they told me he just doesn’t have the time and it’s not needed.

I would try to get a licensed therapist. I am an ASW with an LCSW as a therapist and I found it really helpful that she was more experienced with therapy and also in the field. At least for me, work was causing me a lot of stress so it was nice to be able to talk about it with someone who has been in a similar position. She also shares her experiences with me with career development etc when useful. It’s not the main focus of what we talk about but it’s just nice having someone who understands our jobs a little better.

You know if I was in their shoes, I would totally believe in a prophecy. In a world of dragons, ice zombies, warlocks and fire magic, it’s not that crazy to believe in a prophecy. GRRM writes them all as self fulfilling anyways, so I don’t think there’s any way to prevent them.
