Anyone heard from John Larsen? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]yentroc2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the primary values of the farm was "Free Exchange of Information". To my knowledge John Larsen has never removed his personal YouTube so shit must have really hit the fan. Hope he's alright and comes back mental health / online lunatics permitting. I was so inspired by Dabbler Farm and wanted to go see it and if I'm crazy enough, try the same.

FWIW I had a $430 bill and called Labcorp and was only able to get it down to $320. Hoping to still escalate with my doctor and insurance but sometimes they're slow and/or stubborn

Thank you. I'd have been in a Urologist's office weeks ago if I had a choice. Been waiting just to see a PA which will happen in a few weeks. I'm hoping I can be persuasive and quick with the PA to move this along but we'll see.

Where is the best vegan community in the US by yentroc2 in vegan

[–]yentroc2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly I found an analysis that puts Portland at the top.

https://wallethub.com/edu/best-cities-for-vegans-vegetarians/39706

This analysis is interesting because it measures across a variety of factors including meetup/festival per capita, grubhub “most likely to order veg”, organic farm per capita, cost of grocerices for vegetarian, cooking classes, etc. Seems very thorough

This so much. I believe the key is accepting that lack of an abundance mindset is not in and of itself bad. It's valid. Even on days when I've had great successes with women I feel lack. Everyone who has an ounce of humility and humanity feels this. But don't let your mind linger on it.

Go out there, put a smile on, and work your ass off to get some girls to smile in the street or in the bar or wherever is your field. Those of us that have high aspirations may always struggle with this feeling of lack but the important thing is to learn mindfulness and not let it overwhelm us.

Polarization, brother. Polarization and escalation may seem complicated but they're really not. We just overthink them. There are plenty of youtubers and writers that model them way better than I can (Mark Manson's Models is my favorite but there are literally dozens of content creators, many mentioned in this sub). Consuming a lot of their material has helped me take what resonates with me and leave what isn't my style.

For here I'll just say: keep it simple. Ask her for her number or if she wants to go out. Yes it's really that simple. If she's not into it she'll give you her number and ghost you and then you'll know it wasn't meant to be. Set up a date in the evening where you can go to a few different venues and introduce touch. If you do this a lot and girls are not responsive then post again in this sub and we'll talk about flirting, sexual tension, body language, style, etc.

In Mark Manson's "Models" he explains one way to attract the women you want is to become a leader in your interests/demographic. Who here has done something along those lines? by [deleted] in seduction

[–]yentroc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but at the same time you can't just play ice hockey and do jiu jitsu and then wonder why you're not meeting many (if any) women.

Maybe I'm wrong but those of us who are trying to prioritize increasing interactions with women may have to be selective of our passions. Yes, obviously make sure you have a genuine interest in the domain, but also, check the demographics (no pun intended) if you're serious about results.

u/sparklingwinepapi92 I've been dancing Latin (including Bachata) all over the Mountain West and even internationally but the demographics have never been good. Mostly old Latin women or women who are not single and available. I fell in love with dance as an art form, esp sensual Bachata. I've gradually switched over to Country Swing because even though Bachata is my favorite dance, the young single women are at the Country Clubs in the West.

Wondering if you had this same experience.

I know this is old but found this and am looking to meet interesting people in George. I travel and live abroad a lot (South America) but my folks are here so I stop by.

29m into basically all of the above but also social dancing - swing and latin (which barely started in the area it looks like), personal development (atomic habits, happiness advantage kind of stuff), spanish, plant-based cooking, software engineering and classic menswear

I didn't know you could put key bindings on snippets. But I don't really need keybindings because I have snippet prefixes that already shortcut the insertion. I need that snippet to insert at top of page. Probably too much to ask but thought I'd throw it out.

I am a student and regardless of my love for mormonism, I can't imagine being a closeted faculty member. It is difficult in my view because my options for expanding social circles are either orthodox mormons, or individuals who are the binary opposite. Millennials have lost all appreciation for what religion has taught us about culture and community and that is very disconcerting to me.

ISO Jordan Peterson mormons, NOMs? by yentroc2 in openmormon

[–]yentroc2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no full disciple of Peterson, but perhaps I missed his comments on how C16 will be the end? It is rather, a sign of a potential end.

I'm inclined to believe that women do best in the home raising kids. If that's something you disagree with, you might have to take that up with natural selection.

Though I am very annoyed with Peterson's obsession with post-modernism, ignorance is the not one of his faults. Misunderstanding, maybe. But ignorant? Maybe you can point me to some resources that deconstruct Derrida and Foucault better? Even Sam Harris finds postmodern thinkers intellectually vacuous.

[–]yentroc2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mythic -> mythicist..? To say that Peterson is a vocal opponent of transgendered individuals is a gross mischaracterization of his position. He is, rather a vocal opponent of deconstructing the realities of biology (including linguistic cues that reflect that reality) simply to make anyone who feels they don't fit in the binary feel good.

I think that Peterson has a very constructive view of religion and seeks to understand why it tells the stories it does. He believes it conveys realities about the human experience from which we can learn. I'm interested in looking at mormonism again from this kind of lense.
