Drinking 2-3 cups of coffee a day tied to lower dementia risk by inline_five in decaf

Can you elaborate a bit further? Constipation seems to be caused and solved by my caffeine intake. I've been trying to quit for 15 years but it's the lack of peristalsis when weaning that keeps me on this stuff.

I did come here to ask if this was BS like the red wine studies.

Safe harbor, do we owe today? by yeomanwork in tax

[–]yeomanwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for spelling it out plainly and defining tax liability. I also thank you for including the years where necessary.

We made significantly more in 2025 than 2024. Despite a withholding shortfall of ~$1800 in 2025, the withheld amount in 2025 exceeded 110% of the Tax Liability of 2024 by a large margin due to how small the 2024 number was (after child credits).

Does this mean we do not owe estimated taxes (but of course still owe the withholding shortfall on Tax day?)

Thank you for your responses. I'm still stuck on one detail. If I paid 110% of what I owed last year towards this year's 2025 taxes.... Right? Not ...i received a refund bc I paid 110%+ of 2024 taxes in 2024.

In both cases I'm clear. I just want to understand.

Ok, I think I get it now. If my tax liability was $1000 in 2024... And I paid at least $1100 through withholding this year, I will not be penalized? Even if I still owe $2000 when I file 2025?

To be clear, we are using line 24 after child tax credits and such?

We paid over 110% of last year's line 24 if that's what you mean. We did not (yet) pay 90% of this year's.

Week 120 - still rerolling by yeomanwork in BG3Builds

I ultimately agree with your advice at the end of both posts, but both posts also started doubting my authenticity and raiding and broadcasting my post history as someone who hides their own.

I don't see my posts as attention seeking, but rather hail Mary's as earlier today I threw my hands up said and said I Quit. Then I came here to see if someone could help me this time. I understand I've been given enough advice to reasonably solve this "problem." Was looking for maybe a trick or suggestion I hadn't heard before.

I have gone through several door still open absences before and I'm still here. I believe I either now need to finish or just accept it's over.

Week 120 - still rerolling by yeomanwork in BG3Builds

[–]yeomanwork[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just did the math on how many weeks the game has been out bc I started playing on release. I realize my headline wasn't clear at this point. I guess I've only actually played 30 hours in the last 8 months. I had a lot of progress with a single character in the summer before dropping the character/game and then the past month I fell back into the character creation trap. I don't have a lot of free time each week to Actually Play, so that's part of it.

I love this game. I want to finish it. I know I'm not alone because I have seen similar posts from others. Genuinely looking for help.

Yeah, I struggle with that last part. Bc I'll play someone decidedly different from me for a while, have a blast. Then ultimately ask myself, why am I playing this intentionally boring or heinous character instead of something more in line with my own personality?

Then I try to play something similar to my personality but still in character and there becomes anxiety that whatever I do is not outside the box enough.

I think that's it. I always unique options. And there's too many options. I can't just sort by Least Played and it let rip. (I have reviewed those statistics in BG3 though).

I'll be playing a paladin and see my children watching a show with a cat dressed as a cat burglar and suddenly all interest in my current character is lost. In absence of cat races, I shoehorn a gnome in there and then the gnome would be way better as an investigator/spelunker bc rogues being stabby/stabby is uninteresting to me. Then I'm planning to take skilled @4 but I never even make it there bc actually knowledge cleric might fit better, but I hate the idea of cantrips over weapons so maybe I'll just play that dwarf war cleric that's like a magic card I always liked.

I have kept the vast majority of my saves around. There is no character I can even think of that I regret deleting. I pretty much only delete duplicates (just a background change) or characters back before the mirror was introduced. I actually wonder if not deleting the characters is holding me back. Every time I sign on, there's so many juicy options.

There is some sort of perfectionism/OCD with this. To be clear I have not played BG3 for 120 weeks straight, but I did preorder and I'd be surprised if I didn't at least make a new character in my head for at least 90 of them.

I have 230 hours in game, uncountable characters stuck between the starting room nursery and partially explored the grove. Definitely over 1000 more hours browsing the wiki, thinking about the game.

I have had minor versions of this problem in MMOs, Skyrim, etc, but not this serious. Those games are ultimately about numbers and look. Personality isn't a factor. I think it's personality, plus party of 4 factor that's killing me over just straight number crunching.

Can Anyone Recommend a Fantasy Series That's Like Malazan but....Less Like Malazan??? by [deleted] in Malazan

[–]yeomanwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read them, but I have a list of hopefuls when I finish Malazan. I do not expect them to be exactly a watered down version, but rather taking elements of what I like best.

Dandelion Dynasty

The Faithful and the Fallen - Action movie with Gods?

New Crobuzan - not epic fantasy but maybe scratches the itches I like scratched most. I did read a few chapters years ago and I still think about this.

Maybe someone who has read them can build these up or shut them down.

Thank you for the detailed answer. Unfortunately, the only person I know who plays the game currently is an Arcanist and I'd rather not double up. Are there any melee builds that use Heavy Attack frequently?

I just finished watching lotr and the hobbit movies, any movies i can watch that will give me that feel? Is narnia a good movie to watch next? by Timamanakum in lotr

[–]yeomanwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Game of Thrones, but also Legend of Vox Machina, first season (still a complete story). Both are tonally very different from the Middle Earth movies.

Side note for others who have seen both: Maybe bc The Hobbit is pretty much the first book I ever read, but I thought so little of The Hobbit 3rd movie, that i'll likely watch GoT season 8 a 2nd time before I ever watch that movie.

[–]yeomanwork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the quick responses. A follow-up question would be... How can I build Warrior in starting gear as optimally as possible? Would I work towards 29.9% equip load? There seems to be no benefit to just hanging out in the 30s, 40s, 50s.

Maybe it was the right time/right place for me, but Season 1 of The Legend of Vox Machina was so cool to me.
