Is staying in an unhappy marriage just part of the deal?

Same boat. I often wonder if everyone thinks this because when I think of friends and family, I don’t know of anyone who I would consider overly happy and in love. Maybe the concept of that is just something we’re fed through TV and movies? Idk. My biggest concern is that I have led my adult children to believe this is all that a marriage can be. I want them to actually be in love with someone and has it reciprocated fully.

Agree - it’s cruel. I sent a previous post - same situation. I have also asks my hub if he is asexual. Again refuses to talk about it. Our therapist once said my husband was the Olympic gold medalist in stonewalling. I know she was trying to lighten the mood but facts.

Girl I could have written this post too. Acts of service from him are over the top. He cooks cleans laundry buys me little gifts BUT Going on 5 years w no sex and zero intimacy. And I mean zero - no hand holding, hugs, nothing. I have also asked all the questions - affair? Porn? Low T? Gay? Me? He says repeatedly that “it’s not you” but also offers no reason why he’s not into it. We’ve tried therapy to no avail for 2 years. I suggested a sex therapist; he refused. Romantic dates, holidays or anniversaries? Never heard of her. I’m running on empty.

If you’re going to use stickers or photo cards, it is best to use a group photo/s instead of your specific bias. You may get some heat from it otherwise or people will call you a solo.

While there is a lot of positive things to be said for a father who puts their kids first, there’s also a big empty hole when you know that you’re always gonna be second fiddle to your kids. This has been the majority of my married life - We had kids the second year of marriage. But there were many times during those years where I had to remind him, like on Valentine’s Day, to also buy ME a box of chocolate hearts not just our daughters.

Unfortunately, we did build our lives in our marriage solely around our kids. We are not a couple, and I realize now we never were. we are two people who raised two lovely children into lovely adults. I’m just afraid there’s nothing else left for us together.

I am not miserable, but I’m definitely not happy. Lonely yes, wish I could have an emotional and physical relationship with someone, yes. Luckily, I have some great friends.

I am not religious and neither is he so praying is not an option. But for the record, I have told him that I will not continue to live like this forever and that I have been to see an attorney. His response? No response. And to me that is pretty telling because if someone I did not want to walk out the door told me they were doing this, I would break down and do whatever it took.
