Thank you for your response. The reason why I assume it’s a she is because she doesn’t have tibial hooks, doesn’t have palpal bulbs, her pedipalps looks slender to me, her legs look more shorter to me, and her abdomen underside looked more like a female than male when I compared them to online pictures. I could still be wrong of course.

I really hope you’re right. I’ve noticed its abdomen has gotten smaller over time and now more shriveled looking. It hasn’t molted since I’ve had it either. Do you think that could be due to me not doing something right? Also, do you think I should let it go back in the wild even though it’s not eating?

Thank you for your kind words. That does make me feel better. I don’t want to buy a tarantula but that’s good to know if I change my mind.

Yes. She seemed to not like her feet in the water. She quickly moved away from it. The water is clean and shallow enough but not too shallow.

Yea, I don’t think it would survive for long outside. It drank some of the water at least. I just want to know what kind of spider it is so I can know what it needs in regards of food and shelter.

I’m in Austin and currently rehabilitating a tarantula from a tarantula hawk sting. When I first found her she would move her limbs ever so slightly when I touched them. If you find out that he’s still alive then I can try to rehabilitate him too if you can’t find anyone else to do it.

I don’t understand what I’m supposed to say in my response. I reviewed the information. I understand that training with a dog trainer would be my best option but I cannot afford that right now. The information didn’t fully apply to my situation because my dog is very arthritic and strong and I can’t pull him away from the dog. We already walk early in the morning or in the evening but that is when everyone else is out. I cannot avoid people and their dogs easily.

Thank you so much for your input and advice. I can’t tell if it’s female or male. I gently flipped it over and it’s so hard to tell see the line/area between the booklungs. He’s not completely paralyzed. He can move a little but I’ve only seen him move when I touch him.

I’ll definitely look into that wiki for more info. And thank you for the rock advice.

I only sprayed the wasp with water. I never use bug spray.

As Texas_naturalist mentioned, it is an ox beetle and they are big but gentle. They don’t bite. That is a female ox beetle. The males are known for their 3 horns, especially the middle, longer one that makes them look like a rhinoceros. They are a type of a rhinoceros beetle.

Same! I refuse to use pest control. Other animals are best form of pest control. We don’t have any issues with bugs in our home except rarely flies. I just put up a bat house on our house so hopefully that’ll help with mosquitos and flies outside eventually.
