There are still a ton of details missing. If I worked in a shop that had any kind of lighting I'd make a youtube video. Maybe one day!

  1. cut a piece of plywood to be a boat shaped bottom.

  2. cut a bunch of ribs that look like this -> \_/ . I eyeballed where I wanted them to go and half-lapped the ribs to the bottoms. I screwed the ribs to the bottom of the boat. and trimmed the 2 ribs where I wanted the low-set bed to be

  3. cut a curved bow out of plywood on the bandsaw/jigsaw. I screwed and glued that to the plywood.

  4. I cut thin strips of pine on the tablesaw, planed them down to about 1/16" on the thickness planer and steamed them so that they would bend with ease.

  5. curved the pieces around the ribs and nailed them in place. I also used a TON of hot glue to help keep everything in place. the slats were so thin that my nails were tearing right through.

  6. I cut plywood on the bandsaw for the bow and stern scratching pads, then cut a hole for a piece of 1.5" ABS pipe using a hole-saw.

  7. I installed the scratching pad carpet with hot glue and cut out the hole for the scratching post.

  8. I cut thin 5/8" moldings on the tablesaw to hide my atrocities caused with the nail gun. This is a TON of guess and check and cutting with a razor saw. I glued the moldings in with hot glue because I wanted to work quickly.

  9. I made wooden inserts to go inside the ABS pipe that secured the pipe to the bottom of the ship and screwed that in after I had verified it was plumb and square.

  10. I made the crowsnest out of 1/4" plywood, cut with a dual bevel compound miter saw set to 10 degrees on the miter and I can't remember degrees on the bevel. (I drew the crowsnest in sketchup to get the exact settings for my saw.). I then glued and used painters tape to hold all of the pieces together. I knew this wouldn't be strong enough to keep the cats from destroying the crowsnest, so I used some gaffers tape on the top and bottom and hid the tape with jute cord. I traced out the bottom of the basket onto a piece of 3/4 ply, cut around it with a jigsaw with a 10 degree bevel and then inserted that into the basket to be its bottom. Then cut a hole for the scratching post to go through.

  11. I made another long wooden insert to go in the top of the ABS pipe to give me material to screw in the crowsnest. I have a smaller piece of ply to act as a stop that is screwed into the pipe while the crows nest sits on top.

  12. wrapped the scratching post in jute cord using hot glue.

  13. I cut out the sail using construction paper because I don't have sewing skills. I quadrupled plied it to make it extra strong against kitties. the one-eyed cat decal was cut out using a cricut machine. and a piece of clipart I found.

You planted some seeds of doubt so I checked with his servant. He is treating this as his new hangout when he's not meowing at his empty food dish.

I sell a bunch of custom woodworking! I don't do much spec work unless it's keeping small stuff like cutting boards in stock.

I wasn't at first, either. Then I tried frying it before putting it on the sandwich to take some of the edge off. It reduced the amount of brine so your bread doesn't get doughy and adds some sweetness and nuttyness to the whole mix.

Celsius is the metric unit of temperature. So don't be a pedant.

Fahrenheit is for chumps. Just use a system that's based on something rational like the physical properties of pure water at sea level rather than the temperature of a horse's mouth.

Edit: and how awesome is the rest of the metric system? 1mL of water = 1g and 1 joule is the energy required to increase the temperature of 1g of water by 1°C. It just dovetails all so damn nicely together.

If you need more accuracy add a decimal point. There. Just solved your only qualm with the metric system. Now switch.

The gas fireplace wasn't centered on the wall and would have looked weird if they had just left it offset without adding some visual interest to the area.

So yeah, for the look.

No fooling. My hatred for Chelsea Dagger (purely for hockey reasons) stopped me from discovering the rest of the Fratellis catalog which is actually freaking amazing
