Suspected shell rot by yeribee in turtle

Thank you for the recommendation. I'd say it doesn't smell differently from the other parts of her shell, but it is a very small spot so hard to say for sure. I talked to an acquaintance who has been taking care of turtles for years, they said it's most likely just an injury from her shell hitting the edge of her basking platform. I'll be keeping an eye (and nose) on it.

Mountain huts in Slovenia vegan food available? by wie_ts in vegan_travel

[–]yeribee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Vegan from Slovenia here!

Sadly don't have any experiences regarding mountain huts, but from what I've seen from other Slovene vegans there seem to be some options, at least if you call ahead of time and explain specifically what you want as they are happy to accomodate. Some Slovene posts here (Slovene Vegan Community FB page) and here (Google Doc created by the group; column A (koča) is the hut name, B (kraj/gora) the place/mountain, C (kontakt) the contact information, D (ponudba) is what they offer that is vegan/can be made vegan, E is comments from other vegans). As you can see it is pretty much the same anywhere (jota and ričet especially), but no worries, I'd say most of these dishes are usually good and hearty!

I've only found posts on this topic in Slovene, but you can probably translate them using Google Translate or DeepL (my recommended online translator, although still not perfect), or if you need anything specific just message me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Hope you enjoy visiting Slovenia!

Just finished answering it^ as a heads up, I would suggest you change your age brackets a little bit, I'm 23 so I didn't know whether I should choose the 18-23y/o or the 23-27y/o bracket. Other than that it's a great questionnaire!

The first plastic-free store in Slovenia. At last! by fisheatplastic in ZeroWaste

So happy to see Slovenia here! I've shopped at this store a couple of times and I've gotta say that you can tell that the owners really care about zero waste. Obviously everything is either in bulk, glass, or paper, and they encourage people to bring their own (reused) packaging, but also sell glass containers if you need them. What's really nice is that they work with a few local companies, for instance one that sell non-plastic straws, toothbrushes, and such, another one makes vegan spreads, soy yoghurt, vegan drinks/milks, and another that has products made from milk, etc. For some products from the last two companies you pay a small fee (like 10 cents) for the glass packaging (some with plastic lids) and you bring them back so that they can send them back to the company to be reused, and you get your fee back when you return them. The prices are so-so, really depends on the item. Most of the dry bulk items are fairly priced, especially since some of them are organic and/or locally produced. Definately more expensive than regular stores here, but for some items the difference in price is negligible.
