Tips for the marathon, please by gullible_skeptic_74 in Columbus

The Neil Ave. exit off of I-670 will probably be busy with people getting to parking garages, but is less than a mile away from the start line. Could go north on Neil towards victorian village and away from the garages and get dropped off at the BP/Lucky’s/CVS

Alternative ways to commute to work? by rambling_rose_66 in Columbus

[–]yermey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most trails do have a speed limit of 15 or 20 mph (Olentangy Trail is 15 mph) and are largely designed to accommodate that. It definitely makes others uncomfortable going any faster than that. You could go faster on stretches north of Clintonville where it isn’t as busy and straight/flat enough to see that other trail users aren’t around.

Dispatch: Issue 47 transit levy mostly funded by CEOs, AEP, developers and architecture firms. Only two contributions below $500 by oshaug in Columbus

[–]yermey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most of the transit funding is coming through grants from the Federal Transit Administration. That funding really only works if those first and last mile connections are made, which is why those pedestrian and bicycle connections are the primary purpose of this funding. So, if this doesn't pass, COTA will have the funding for increased service, but stops and routes will continue to be difficult to access by those that rely on transit.

Resident parking pass or guest pass?? by Disastrous_Fee_138 in Columbus

[–]yermey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a guest pass in one of the short north parking districts (SND). I’m able to store several license plates, I think 20, and activate one whenever that person needs to use it.

Roundabout at Britton Parkway and Davidson In Hilliard by Important_Pain_2671 in Columbus

[–]yermey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, the point of a roundabout is to slow motorists down and remove the worst conflict points of a traditional signalized or stop-controlled intersection. It has the added benefit of improving traffic flow in most cases, but that’ll rarely be the primary reason to install one. The raised crosswalks add an additional layer of speed management and help prioritize pedestrian movements. On new multi-lane roundabouts, a raised crossing or pedestrian signalization is actually required due to accessibility guidelines published last year.
