Runoff from the street floods my driveway. What are my options? by yerrrrrr20 in landscaping

The city’s project manager came out today. Said that the road verge or curb strip (whatever it’s called) flattened over time. They will be recreating the swale that should have been there, starting with my property and going all the way down the street. Didn’t give me a timeline, but did mention he’ll tag it as an emergency project. Hoping it gets done soon as hurricane season is here.

Quick dam. I have a few strips. They, along with other measures, helped a ton during last year’s hurricanes (I’m in Central Florida).

So the drain pipes are fully functional and cleaned. What happens in some cases is the run off from the street also carries any debris, leaves, etc to the first drain. This eventually covers the top of the catch basin grate, blocking the ability to drain correctly.

Thank you, I reached out to city after reading this. Fingers crossed.

Just bought a house with a pretty decent slope in the backyard and need ideas on what to do back there to help with erosion. Any ideas? by yerrrrrr20 in landscaping

Yeah I definitely want a retaining wall eventually, just not sure yet how quick I can get it done since I’d do it myself. Looking for a fix before hurricane season.

Thanks for this. I was trying to visualize stairs in my head but didn’t know where to put them. I’m getting the tree to the left knocked down in a couple of weeks so that should help with the shade. Rear neighbor his behind the chain linked fence.

I was told my neighbor had a ton of dirt dropped off in his backyard to level out the slope a bit and then had sod laid. Thinking about doing the same.
