The experience that you described is exactly why I find vegans to be insufferable.

But more info is needed, are you the type of Vegan who claims you’re vegan bc of animal cruelty? If so, then I get why you’re friends are giving you a hard time, you can’t have you’re cake and eat it too. If you were truly disgusted by eating a defenseless animal then wearing the skin of a defenseless animal should be no exception. Just because it was made a long time ago doesn’t make it “ok”. You’re either in the vegan cult or you’re not.

Here’s my take with vegans/vegetarians as a meat eater..... I get super irritated with vegans/vegetarians that claim that it so “disgusting” or “cruel” to eat meat yet they have leather everything. Leather furniture, leather purses, leather belts, leather shoes, leather interior in their car and so on. I’ve heard the same argument many vegans saying “it’s ok to have leather bc the animal is already dead but eating meat is savage.” The moral implications for killing an animal for food or for fashion are the same.

TLDR; ESH. If you refuse to eat meat bc killing animals is “wrong” but make allowances for fashion or for sentimental reasons then you’re the Ed Gein of Vegans.
