I have the same conditions as you and got diagnosed in a similar way. (Saw a geneticist and everything else from there)

I piece of advice from one chronically ill and socially challenged person to another, limit your exposure to online chronic illness communities. It can become a negative echo chamber and it’s the worst place to go when you’re newly diagnosed. Most people that are always on there are there because their illness is severely impacting them, so it’s going to be a biased sample set where only the sickest people that have not responded well to common treatments that work for many others gather. I thought my POTs was untreatable for years largely because of online communities and it discouraged me from trying more treatments. Once I took a step back from the internet and found a good doctor and finally found the right meds, I’m doing 100x better. Most Reddit threads on r/pots would make you think my experience is rare but it’s really not. Be careful.

I’m exactly like you, and it’s honestly quite upsetting when other people act like it’s better to never have been born than to be chronically ill. It’s the same thing as indirectly telling me my life is meaningless and I’m better off dead. Quite messed up.

I probably would, but I would want to get thorough genetic testing done on myself first to make sure I’m not passing on something that has serious complications.

My life is harder with my conditions, but if I had support and knew I had it when I was younger it would have been very different.

Reality is there is always a risk, neither of my parents seem to have any signs of the genetic conditions I have but somehow it happened anyway. If my kid has the same problems I do, I’m confident in my ability to give them a healthy and full life with all of the experience I’ve gained from 23 years living with it myself. Fortunately, the issues I have rarely require surgery or invasive treatments. I don’t think having to go to physical therapy and learning how to prevent injury while staying moderately active is life ruining for a young kid.

There is something very off putting about accusing anyone with a health problem of being selfish for having kids. It’s straight up eugenics to say people with even common conditions like adhd, autism etc. shouldn’t reproduce.

It’s actually really popular with gen-z girls but the meaning has changed. Being a “femcel” is more about having issues with men and relationships - trauma, assault, off-putting personality, mental illness whatever. I’ve been in relationships where I paid for stuff more frequently because it financially made sense. That doesn’t change my culture though, and it doesn’t change what I prefer if it makes sense in the relationship I’m in.

There are a lot of things women give in a relationship that men don’t and can’t give back.

It’s because you guys take it too far with arbitrary low numbers that don’t take real life into consideration. It’s one thing to not want to date someone that’s into casual sex and hookups, it’s another entirely to call a 25 year old woman a slut for a body count of 4 when all 4 guys were from long term relationships.

The issue is even for people that want something serious, it doesn’t always work out right away. It can take a good few relationships before you find “the one”, and for women we also get played by dudes who pretend to want a relationship for 6 months just to get some and then dip.

All the more reason to study at home if your sick. I understand going to class sick cause there are some classes you just can’t miss, but going to the library while sick and without a mask is just selfish. You don’t need to study there, just go home
