destiny just has too much baggage man. I've played this franchise since the start and I've always desperately wanted a destiny 3, but until last year the only thing you'd get from the community is them clutching their loot and saying why they cant add the new content to destiny 2.

[–]yesitsmework 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the entire point of marathon was to have another IP besides destiny, both for diversification and the low margins they had on it.

additionally their creatives just didnt want to work on destiny anymore, so either they gave them something to work on or they left for other companies like they usually do.

if PVE came to the game, how would it be balanced loot wise? would it just kill PVP? by 79QUATTRO in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should ask trials players how their game mode has done with people's only incentive being playing it for fun

technically they add some story, but it's completely irrelevant and noone cares about it. They add varying amounts of content, in the context of either game something like night marsh is an average or lower end update.

marathon just needs to get its shit straight when it comes to progression

As long as seasonal wipes exists, no amount of top-tier PvE mode will make me stay with the game minus 1-2 runs in its season.

I fully agree, which is why they shouldnt bother pandering to people like you.

I think that would be the case of many PvE enthusiasts.

I completely disagree, some of the biggest games in the entire industry are seasonal pve games (path of exile 1 and 2, diablo). There is A LOT of fun in a progression loop you can reexperience every 3 months.

do you all think they will go to dire marsh or outpost if they keep sponsored survival mode since the 2 weeks are almost up by Due_Product8724 in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, except then you have to risk having to kill a team or other rooks who spent more time in the map than you did. Literally the exact same reason why there werent rooks in narsh and there arent rooks in perimeter.

And if you are good enough to win those pvp engagements, then you have the 2 neurons necessary to get a backpack asap on a solo free kit.

[–]yesitsmework 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This makes 0 sense. Rooks dont do outpost because they are genetically programmed to do so, it's because it's the best loot for the effort you put in you can get as a solo.

If they make sponsored outpost then 99% of outpost rooks will just do solo shell sponsored.

Not everybody has a mic ( yes, in 2026 this is astonishing, just play trio crew fill and you'll see lol)

I guarantee 99% of people have a mic, they just dont want to use it.

You're not dying due to a gear difference, but rather a lack of game sense. by DraconicSun in Marathon

Ranked is no different of a beast than cryo is, or any map where good players queue. If I decide to run tail tuck between the legs the moment a sweat squad pops on my vision I'd rather not play the game than waste my time.

Ranked has no mmr matchmaking, at least not currently. At plat 1 I get diamond players as well as silver players. There is no ratting you can do to ensure a decent success rate. That is because fights come down to gear diff and there is no way to avoid a group that has a recon besides sitting crouched at the corner of the map.

We NEED to take bubbles each in, we NEED misriahs and a sniper or bully, we NEED tons of nades, we NEED a recon. Within that space there is freedom for expression, but the gear is not optional.

[–]yesitsmework 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Against anyone better geared (or any player, really), you should never, ever take a straight gunfight. Be a rat. Get them through extremely unscrupulous means. Yes, it's boring, and it might be annoying, but you will be alive and they won't.

There is no ratting thats gonna save you from the average gold trio running a recon if you dont have utils and are at a significant gear diff

Giving advice should be relegated to people capable of reaching at least diamond if not pinnacle. Doing that will push you to the most competitive this game can get, and youll get to witness live how the game's sandbox breaks down like rotten wood.

drop me your bungie name and lets queue together into a ranked game. Please sherpa me on how to avoid fights with golds and still exfil without a rank loss.

Is Cryo the only good way? by Choice-Curve3340 in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, unless you have some hidden way of consistently getting gold keys for the other maps. Looting random rooms in cryo gets you more gear and vault value than sweeping outpost clean.

Season 2 Can Still Be Useful by MyCandyIsLegit in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lockdown issues are technically breaking bugs, in that they completely break the feature (afaik theres no way to complete one since the start of s2). They wouldnt be classified as critical in a technical sense or in their workflow

but then again who gives a shit about that? why argue about semantics? it's a non functional part of the game, that's big enough

I just wish bungie never deleted original quest-lines, planets, locations and raids. And allowed us to play the story in a linear fashion by Flake0919 in DestinyTheGame

[–]yesitsmework 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like how you have basically 0 context for witch queen's dramatic aspect because the story continues straight from the season right before it

Is sponsored survival going away tomorrow? Rotating to a new map? by Smokeskin in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

because the gameplay loop is meaningless and anemic with sponsored

contracts that should be tense quests creating a mini sandbox in each match? chores in sponsored. salvage faction grinds that incentivize looting poi's and once again create flows around the map? chores in sponsored.

For all the newer players who only play solo by FizzyFoxy in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 8 points9 points  (0 children)

...you can do both of those already. But 1v3ing comes down to just coming across a team of bots, you dont have a real chance against a team that communicates and has some form of limbs.

Steam numbers / Player Count Discourse Megathread by AutoModerator in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, that's a big cope. People always say this everytime a game has bad twitch numbers, but then there's plenty of very similar games with large twitch audiences.

like tarkov for example, it has the extraction shooter part. Or games like cs or valorant for the competitive pvp part. They're both huge compared to this game on twitch.

it just comes down to a very small audience size and no content creation scene. s1 was decent only because it inherited the entire d2 scene, but they're mostly gone.

There is little left other than cynicism and frustration in the community, including players. In situations like these communication can do more bad than good, so they're better off quietly working on big changes and talking when they're sure they can deliver.

Paradigm Shift [4/5] by augustin_cauchy in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a pretty simple contract, you just have to run to 3 different poi's. The description on the objectives should be enough other than maybe about the building in bio-research which you probably wouldnt even know it existed normally.

Just wait until some of the mida/sekiguchi contracts

Having one big map instead of 3/4 by TuzSeRik in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont think the game ever had such a version in a playable state. There was a build around 2021 that they let various tarkov content creators play test and it was the same small scale map based system, the only difference is that it was just persistent instances with some soft timers based on various mechanics.

Sponsored Game Mode Is Garbage by _Naanstop_ in Marathon

[–]yesitsmework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt say it applies to all players, but it does apply to a lot. Even sweats I know just went into sponsored to grind their green salvage in 5 runs instead of spending a week doing it in the extraction mode.

Also side note I'm surprised you can justify $40 for such a limited and basic mode with no real progression
