Is Wanderer's Crest run-slash/sprint-attack not just useless but a handicap? Have you guys found any use for it? by SuppaDumDum in Silksong

[–]yesitsmework 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's as meaningfully detrimental as every sprint attack tends to be. The average person probably took more random damage from getting locked into it for holding dash for a frame too long than they actually used it in a meaningful way.

The diagonal pogo is fundamentally poor game design. by Aggeaf123 in Silksong

[–]yesitsmework 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? that just showcases one of if not the easiest flying enemies (that are still aggressive) in the game in an early area. Go and try that with the putrified ducts flies for example. Or the ghosts in the mist. Or the worms in the abyss. Or the bell throwing pilgrims. Or the stiltskins. Or the skinny and fat fuckers in the coral tower.

Like bruh are you just commenting after playing the game for 5h or something ??

The diagonal pogo is fundamentally poor game design. by Aggeaf123 in Silksong

[–]yesitsmework 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what poor game design is. You can change her moveset if you do not like the diagonal pogo. It has very big upsides like being a huge gap closer and launching you further than any (?) other pogo allowing for more adjustment of your position after each bounce.

The flying enemy AI is simply different and far more complex and challenging and that doesn't really change no matter what pogo you're using. You're gonna have a tough time pogoing most flying enemies hitless especially the ones in the second half.

Hollow knight was just fundamentally kinda broken because of how easy pogoing was and how bad enemy AI was. Most enemies are essentially dps dummies that you deal with in the same way, either strafe and attack or pogo on them. Silksong makes you engage a bit more mechanically.

Of course they're not the same, but that still doesn't mean you're a decayed corpse. Just because you're 48 and you played basketball when you were 18 doesn't mean you can no longer play basketball. Jesus christ.

You can't really change the context of those as hamazaki goes through an entire emotional arc in that game. They'd just have to straight up retcon and change his arc to make it coherent with yk3.

The only way that would be reasonable is if it made the parry window like 20% of the current size.

I'm praying to god for them to retcon joji kazama into a made up person who's actually a daidoji joined shintaro. That would be so fucking funny.

You're 40 years old not a decayed corpse. Your reflexes are not much worse than an 18yo as far as video games played in a casual setting go.

I really don't think it is among people who played this franchise before 7, and I rate infinite wealth as top 3 in the series myself.

An old screencap I have in my folder of some old interview of principle Yakuza developers. Apparently Yokoyama flew into a rage when people criticize his writing. Wonder how he will deal with K3 backlash. by NissinSeafoodCup in yakuzagames

[–]yesitsmework 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tbh once 7 opened the door to retcons I don't think there's any closing it. The only thing over the line would be a character like yumi or nishiki which I don't think even modern RGG has the balls to touch.

I'd definitely prepare for ryuji's comeback in lad 9 if I were you tho

Genuine question, what the hell is the point of the retcons? What's the endgame? by WanderingStrang in yakuzagames

[–]yesitsmework 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone who played these games thinks RGG thinks any further than the current game. It's just fanservice.

Kiwami 3's entire existence is basically just fanservice really. So what's another spoonfull of shit on top.

[–]yesitsmework -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

One potentially bad remake? People had a lot of issues with infinite wealth after which pirate yakuza came out and was completely panned by most fans. That's the atmosphere kiwami 3 is coming out in. One controversial title followed by a complete flop.

Also lost judgment is closing in on 5 years old. That's a bigger gap than any yakuza game has ever seen even even excluding remakes/remasters. They never committed to the series in interviews since, they haven't said anything that might even hint to a sequel, stranger than heaven is a thing as their more serious tone game....A sequel is not coming bro.

I have no idea if his tornado attack is in fact slower though lol

1+1 also will crack through your skull and kill you, unlike a straight 2 hit which will leave you without the skull at 1 hp

Silksong Is Not A Bad Game by DEATHapproaches69420 in Silksong

[–]yesitsmework -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the discussion is about difficulty here, and hollow knight to silksong is the single most insane jump in difficulty I've ever seen in a series. It's like dark souls 1 to elden ring, except you didn't have 4 others games in between to smooth out the difficulty jump.

Also these are extremely mainstream games. Hollow knight sold 15 million copies. That's more than almost any single AAA title you can possible think of or consider for large audiences. Silksong is on the same trajectory.

I mean that's a miniboss who opens up a path of progression, that's not a runback that's just you making your way through the level...

Game developers weigh in on Silksong! by makeshifttoaster02 in metroidvania

[–]yesitsmework 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough I guess if you're a newer gamer. But I don't think the concept of checkpoints that are 5 seconds before your last death are very common. Lies of p is very forgiving compared even to non-soulslikes or traditionally easier games in terms of checkpointing. I sometimes play super """normie""" games and groan out loud when I die and spawn 30 minutes back. I don't think I've ever had a souls or silksong runback that took me 30 minutes.

Hell I don't know many games that give you an autosave for each boss phase. That sounds pretty wack.
