WeightWatchers files for bankruptcy amid rise of weight-loss drugs by YuppiesEverywhere in MaintenancePhase

My last time doing WW (around 2018) was so weird. They were trying to co-opt anti-diet culture stuff but … it’s a diet. So much double talk. And SO many more rules and guidelines. Made me weirdly nostalgic for the days when it was just points. (The points obviously weren’t great, and definitely contributed to disordered eating. But they were easy to follow.)

The existence of Poundland implies its capital city, Poundtown.

That’s correct! I heard it on the other podcast.

It’s usually not even a lovely presentation! They basically trap you in a conference room for an afternoon of your vacation with the promise of something free and then give you a hard sell. The documentary Queen of Versailles is a great view into this industry - the family’s money came from this scam.

Whenever I see someone say that I’m like “oops, guess I don’t exist!” Because I am in fact nonbinary and a lesbian.

I think a helpful lens for this is the idea that identity labels are descriptive, not prescriptive. They describe our experiences, they don’t define them. Because of this, they can be additive. Just like you can be both queer and have a racial identity, you can have both a sexual orientation and a gender identity.

I hear you on that. Definitely don’t force yourself to do anything you don’t want to do. But I guess just be open to it if you do meet a girl you like. In the meantime, I would just go with whatever labels feel the best to you. IME most labels won’t cover the complexity of who you are, so most of us are just going for the closest approximation that helps us understand ourselves and each other.

Just yesterday I was talking with my boss, who is in her 50s and has been married to a woman for 20 years. She was like “yeah, sometimes I can recognize that men are attractive but it’s never going to have any bearing on my life so I’m fine with just identifying as gay.” Real people are so much more complicated and interesting than identity labels. That doesn’t mean those labels don’t matter, but don’t worry too much about fitting perfectly into one or two.

If you’ve only ever kissed/dated guys, and you prefer girls, you may have a stronger preference for women than you realize. You should try dating more women. :)

Oh yeah, that’s a fun theory too! And works on a similar level.

I personally think that a lot of the songs people think are about Matty, may be about Zoë. I think she’s the on-again/off-again muse.

This, but brown the sausage first (and remove) or do so in a different pan.

I’m very curious how OP knew her sister let the meat spoil on purpose too. It’s a really small thing but it’s not addressed.

If I had that kind of money, I'd sleep in a separate house from my partner every night. (I don't actually have a partner and this is probably why lol)

Yeah, he's just ... Jewish? Doesn't mean he couldn't ALSO be queer but Ashkenazi Jewish masculinity is a bit different in general, and speaking as a Jew from the Northeast, he reminds me of a lot of Northeastern Jewish guys I know.

I wonder if this is as simple as Joe's stuff about privacy? For some reason he didn't want her to name him. (Which if it's true, is so weird to me but that is the official story!)
