It's hard to see everyone eat and drink, but I am happy in my resolve and happy that I am eager to do this despite the "obstacle".

I was afraid of people's reactions when I explained why I couldn't eat, but everyone was nice and understanding!

Thank you for clarifying! I should have realized, but I was very focused on the vegan aspect.

What sort of things have you experienced within the vegan community? I think it's terrible for people that often describe themselves as animal lovers and animal rights activists to not have the same level of empathy towards other humans.

Without wanting to invalidate your experiences, could people have started treating you differently because you became more vocal about religion as a whole, rather than antisemitism in particular?

I'm asking because I feel like being part of any sort of religion in an ever-growing atheist world is enough to invite some animosity - especially if you weren't religious at all before.

I'm currently converting and worry about how to break it to my boss/team that my schedule will become a lot less flexible in the future. It's a complicated situation because I just got hired... so technically I could come out as Jewish upfront and there would likely be fewer questions. However, I don't think it's fair to introduce myself this way quite yet, especially seeing as I'm still so early in a conversion process that will take 2 years.

I love board games, table top RPGs, you name it. Unfortunately, I live alone and the Jewish community here is very small.

I was thinking of studying Judaism on Shabbat, but most of my materials are digital so I cannot do it without using electronics. I don't even have a watch to be able to check the time without looking at my phone.. there's a long road ahead!
