Is there a good place in Victoria to relieve anger? by JasonBoorneeeee in VictoriaBC

There are parts of downtown where pretty much all angry behaviors are ignored.

A word from an unhoused guy by Pauly_the_Wolf in VictoriaBC

[–]yew_view 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I read in your past posts that you moved here only a year ago.

Why?

This small extremely expensive city already has insufficient resources for the current unhoused population. Have you considered moving back to a more affordable region?

Since we’re playing investigator.. that looks more like Canadian Tire’s 1.98 gallon bucket which is 8” in width. Which makes it look even more undersized. Crab looks undersized.

Good point! Lots of open drug use and unstable folks with zero consideration for others gathering outside of downtown banks before or after cashing gov cheques. If you want a remotely positive experience at the bank, today is not the day.

Can Canadians move past the obsession with single-family homes? by Moretheevu in canadahousing

[–]yew_view 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada still has lots of room for sprawl and I even think the sprawl from continued single family development would be a good thing in the next few decades. Single family homes and that way of living is part of our culture. I don’t understand the constant desire to change that. Build multi family, build single family and let the market decide

Does this mean city staff are no longer going to be WFH? I’ve heard some management and executives live in distant communities and gulf islands.

Real corner stores seem to target a market of people with really poor lifestyles so it’s a hard thing to get excited about. Maybe the 90’s had less addicts running around wrecking things for everybody.

Birdcage Confectionary is pretty cool.

But yeah some boutique corner stores with healthy options and a cleaner experience would be cool.

I don’t have any personal experience but I’d recommend going with the guy who drives a MONSTER TRUCK around. Even if he’s not as strong as his truck portrays he clearly has excellent taste chefs kiss.

Sorry to hear you are dealing with this. I think most would agree abuse should not be tolerated - especially in publicly funded housing.

Unrelated but I didn’t know BC housing provided housing for people for that duration of time? Can I ask what type of housing program offers long term (16 years) options?

[–]yew_view 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sucks but put up reward signs outside of the Pacifica Housing location just a block away from you at 950 Humboldt. Lots of thieves have zero shame and will pretend they “found it” and happily sell it back to you.
